    Prop Slipping?

Thanks guys, I will be out on Sunday with our normal load and see if it happens again if the weather is good. I tend to always be worried about potential problems as I grew up with an antique Mastercraft that always had some issue. In the 7 years with the Sea Ray I have only had one minor...

    Prop Slipping?

Guys, Yesterday was the first time we have had a group of people on the boat this year--four adults and two kids and I noticed something different. Normally we only have three people on board, approx 500 lbs, yesterday 900lbs. When I was pulling adult skiiers every once and a while it felt as...

Depth finder question, 2007 185 Sport

I have used a "in-hull" humminbird since my 04 185 was new, I placed it under the motor near the starter, used silicone caulk to adhere it to the gell coat in the bilge and it has never missed a beat. I installed it per the factory directions as I didn't want to drill a hole through the transom...

    towing 185

Alpha, We have three Grands in the family (all WJ's) and I have found that Mopar rotors work the best. I have a very good local dealership that sells parts to me at wholesale prices so they are actually cheaper than places like Autozone, Advance, etc. Another thing that warps rotors I have...

    1999 Sundeck 210 -> Wakeboarding Setup?

For my setup (185 sport) I get two people in the front then trim the motor up just a tad to make the wake tip sharpen up a little--depends on how heavy my passengers are. I sadly do not have a tower but it isn't all that bad (would be much better with a tower). You can reinforce the fiberglass...

    towing 185

I think you will be fine towing it is the stopping I would worry about. I tow my 185 with an 03 Grand Cherokee V8 HO which does fine other than 13 mpgs. Last year some idiot cut infront of us to make a left hand turn on a four lane highway (2 lanes each direction, grass in middle). He panic...

    Missing vac hose?

Guys, I got the boat out on the water for the first time this season this last weekend (2004 185 Sport 4.3L 190HP). Everything went very well and I even managed to slalom ski a little. So today I was poking around the engine compartment b/c the admirle commented that the boat was louder this...

A question for all you Wakeboarders.

I would love to try to wakeboard behind a 260 or 280 as I am sure the wake would be great. The main problem would be where to attach the rope as you need it up high for tricks so it doesn't pull you down--allows you to fly. Wonder if you could attach it to the arch without damaging anything...

Year round boating – where is the line?

For the last two years I haven't winterized the boat. I have put fuel stabilizer in but last year I did manage to wakeboard at least once every month of the year. It is very strange to be out in the middle of the lake and be the only one out there. If I kept the boat outside I would winterize...

    Question -Winterizing in Georgia?

Winterize? Not since the boat lives in the heated garage, even though I do use fuel stabilizer. The nice part of not winterizing the boat is being able to hit the water in the winter. Last year I managed to wakeboard every month of the year, granted I couldn't feel my feet after a few minutes...

    wakeboard tower

Thanks for the link above--I called yesterday on a tower for my 185 as I have progressed about as far wakeboarding as I can without one. They are right at $2k plus shipping. Of course then I would have to get a bimini that would work with the tower too--maybe after my tax refund this year. Or...

    My first oil change

I am going to try sucking it out next time, it takes forever using the hose out the plug. I agree that the filter requires some interesting bending to get to--I seem to have better luck using one of the filter sockets vs a filter wrench. I was at the dealer getting new pins for the bimini top...

    oil pressure question

Thanks guys, I just wonder why the oil pressure guage never moved for the first two seasons. Dave, no smartcraft on my boat. As for the oil leak, I am trying one of the other dealerships within Hall Marine that has a higher rated service center so maybe they can actually fix it this time vs...

    oil pressure question

Guys, I was out this weekend with my 2004 185 Sport (4.3L) and noticed something different. My oil pressure guage was fluctuating with my engine speed, this has never happend during the previous three seasons. I currently have an oil leak that the dealer has tried to fix twice--both times it...

    Your Dumbest Moment in Boating

Great thread, mine isn't that bad. I had the Sea Ray for a few months and my best friend and I were out fishing one afternoon when we decided to try a different spot. I secured our gear and headed across the lake when my friend said wow look at that fish jump. I turn around to see the anchor...
