A question to ponder!
What do you think would happen if the NFL put a salary cap on the player or position.
I realize this will probably never happen but, let's say a QB had a max salary of $500,000. per season and another position had let's say a S350,000.
Every team had a minimum salary of let's say $300,000.
Do you feel that the game would decline or remain the same. I believe the highest paid player's of today would leave but, I also think after a couple of years the same rookie who would sign for the big money today would also sign for the above numbers.
After a few years we as spectators would never know the difference on the on field play of then compared to today.
I also believe this would be true of any professional sport.
We run major league sports like the government runs the US. Spend more than you can afford and then pass the balance on to the supporters until you have finally bite the hand who feeds you.
This is only a question to peak your thoughts as I know with the unions and past history it could never happen. I also know that with the completely out of hand salaries that every team is likely at the breaking point of keeping their fans in the stands. I know that I am sick of paying hard earned money to see a guy making millions and acting like a A-hole most Sunday afternoon's.
