2015-16 Football thread - any team banter welcome.

What size heels you wear MM? I'll pay & ship a pair to ya as long as you post pics on here and facebook of you in them with a skirt on.

By the way the owner Lisa Strom is a relative of the original Seahawks Owners Group the Nordstroms & Stroms. Stroms owned Schuck's Auto Parts that was sold to O'reilly Auto Parts. Schuck's Auto Parts sponsored my first funny car in 1967 a 1966 Barracuda with a 671 blown 426 hemi AA/FC that I flipped in 1968 at Half Moon Bay in California destroying the car.
bob, do you happen to know an old dragster driver named Larry Tores?

I didn't know him just did a google search I do remember seeing the car he ran at Orange County Raceway, it was an unusual rare race car Buick Funny Car that ran in a factory experimental class at first.

He is a friend and owns a 420DB. I was just curious since he was big back when you were running the race you referred to. Small world!

My picks for this weekend:
KC over the Pats (Pats have too many injuries and were lucky to get to this point)
AZ over Green Bay (even though my company is based in Wisconsin)
Seachickens over the Panthers (pains me to pick them. I hope I am wrong!)
Denver over the Steelers (Steelers are too banged up and on the road)

Since it was brought up again. I'll say the NFL is covering up Shazier's hit. For them to admit that Shaziers hit was a penalty would be to admit the Zebras stole the game from the Bengals, imply the NFL Referees are incompetent, and tarnish the NFL image.

The Bengals would have maintained possession and had a 1st down just outside the Steelers 10 after that hit. Couple that with the NFL admitting Bryant's TD wasn't a catch and Porter's fine, the NFL has unquestionably altered the outcome of the game.

For those who still claim Shazier's hit was legal, let me quote Rule 12, Article 2, Section 8 from the NFL rulebook:

INITIATING CONTACT WITH THE CROWN OF THE HELMET.
It is a foul if a runner or tackler initiates forcible contact by delivering a blow with the top/crown of his helmet against an opponent when both players are clearly outside the tackle box (an area extending from tackle to tackle and from three yards beyond the line of scrimmage to the offensive team’s end line). Incidental contact by the helmet of a runner or tackler against an opponent shall not be a foul.

Note, that the rule mentions nothing about lining up the hittee. I make this distinction because Blandino justified the non-call because Shazier didn't line up Bernard for the hit, therefore it wasn't a penalty. There is nothing in the rule about "lining up". Further, I saw an endzone camera view where it looked like Shazier was lining up Bernard for the hit.

None of this would matter if Jeremy Hill would have hung on to the ball, but it still sucks to have the Zebras steal the game from you.

don't forget the celebration penalty on will gay that shouldn't have been because the TD was nullified. and the celebration (and delay of game) penalty not called against berfict when he ran into the locker room. and the TD that was called back when Shazier ran the fumble recovery into the end zone.

very sloppy officiating all around...not just against the bengals

where did you see the bryants TD was 'officially' called no-good? i hadn't seen that and not sure i agree. it appeared he maintained possession the whole time and the ball was against his body at all times. i think that call would have not been reversed no matter which way it was called on the field. the split second real time decision would have held either way i think

boatman, you are correct, the NFL did not issue an official statement on the Bryant catch.

Blandino was on ESPN and they showed a view of the ball sliding down the back of Bryan'ts legs and Blandino said he wouldn't have called it a TD. He then went on to say that the video wasn't definite and that however it was called on the field would stand after replay review.

I agree with you, Burfict and company should have been penalized for running off the field after picking off Ben. I couldn't believe we didn't get flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Why should the TD celebration penalty not be called? The celebration occurred regardless of why. If a team did the same celebration for a first down it would be called. ( For Gods sake and ours I hope I didn't give some player inspiration here. LOL)

Pats came to play. Edelman made a difference for coverage although he had some rust to shake off in the first half.

duuno but the referees have really taken a beating this year, much of it deserved. can't ever remember a season with as many bad calls

Great game GB at Arizona. Well played, no fights, good sportsmanship was what I saw. That produced a compelling competitive game.

See you in the morning...

MM

The GB/Cards game was a hoot to watch....in the 2nd half. First half was...yawn...boring but the second half had a lot of action. Larry Fitzgerald definitely deserved the game ball for this one.

The 12th Man flag is up. We're ready for tomorrow morning!

I'm kind of happy about the GB/Cards game. After the Seahawks dispatch the MVP (Most Valuable Punk) Newton and his Panthers they get to go to Arizona. And after the game a couple of weeks ago you know Seattle is going to be in the little bird-brains.

Sorry about the profanity above. I tried to edit it but it went up as it is and then I tried to delete it and it wouldn't go away.

I'm really sorry guys.

Shawn

I thought GB was going to pull it off. They were wearing down AZ defense, but Fitzgerald was a huge factor. Good second half. Agree about the first half, big yawn. I'm ready for some cats versus birds today.

I don't understand how any of those "Hail Mary" passes are ever completed...those defensive backs certainly couldn't play outfield in baseball.....no depth perception.
