Fuel prices supposed to spike!

What Energy Problem? U.S. Oil Exports Are on the Rise

"February was the third month out of four that the U.S. -- the world's most energy-hungry nation -- actually exported more oil that it imported."

Funny that we are letting oil companies sell natural resources that belong to this country...... so we can import oil and fill the pockets of "terrorists" in the middle east.

You conservatives are funny, anything is for sale...... even your country.

Your ignorance is stunning. Please tell me you didn't reproduce.

I suspect these articles are refering to refined oil products and excluding crude oil in the statistics. Is that correct?

A few minutes of googling is turning up mud on the statistics.

Edit: I see Gary beat me to the response. I will type more later.

I don't boat because it makes my checking account look good. I boat because I enjoy it. If the cost gets to the point where I'm worried about it more then boating then it is time to move on... do I like to spend as much or more on fuel then I do on my slip fee's no. But do I enjoy it... h3ll yes... the higher prices only means I will be able to get a slip anywhere I want at any time... always a silver linning... was this to elitest/elitist?

The articles appear to be total BS. They mix "crude oil imports" and "oil products exports" in the same math. I guess these nut jobs also missed 2nd grade where we all learned you can't subtract apples from bananas.

Two weeks ago diesel was 3.69 here. Today....3.89 This sux!! I think if fuel prices were cut in half the economy would explode!

Since fuel costs directly influence just about everything in our economy you would think the Dept of Energy, career politicans or somebody would force a vote for a national energy policy that would protect the consumer and encourage more development in oil. The EPA has tremendous power. Similar to how the ACLU has always been against anything that made sense, the EPA is tearing away at the foundation of energy production. More drilling, new piplines or even new refineries must face the EPA for approval. You can forget the evening news to tell you what's going on. Just read and figure it out for yourself!! There is an agenda in place which will "change" our lives. Remember the campaign promises from 2008? Was I the only one who heard the word "change" mentioned hundreds of times? Who is this guy, where did he come from, who are his supporters and do we actually know much about his past? I think not. However he is surely to be re-elected because the machinery that was in place in 08 is still in place today and re-election is already in the bag. Our fragile energy dependent economy is in trouble.
Remember when he told Brazil recently that they should use all the incentives we gave them and go ahead with their offshore drilling.....we would be their best customer!! I can now identify how the Germans must have felt in the 30's.

There is an agenda but we don't know "the rest of the story" as Paul Harvey would say.

Realistically, fuel prices will not limit my number of trips nor the distance I will travel. I actually plan on putting more hours on the boat this year since I have her in ship shape now compared to last year. I he the prices stay at or below current levels but it will not affect my boating...

Thank you for expressing my thoughts EXACTLY.
Bring on Summer and get out of my way on the gas dock. (No, seriously, get out of my way....I'm not that good handling this boat yet)

I'm going to lower the docking fees at Dom's Marina for the 2012 boating season. Just doing my part to help.

$5 a gallon? .especially truck drivers who are being ripped off the most with high fuel prices. I'll do my part and stay at home or on the boat, Mike.

Mike, truckers are not getting ripped off, we the consumers are. EVERYTHING I ship or receive has a fuel surcharge added to it. When I get freight quotes, I get the actual trucking charge, then a fuel surcharge added on top. They can not lose. A good friend that I use to ship with has about 150 trucks and is making a killing right now, enough that he is looking to up grade from his 540 ;) Trucking and shipping companies have figured this out.

As for this years fuel usage in my boat, I'm going to go out on a limb and say I will double my hours I did last year. Should not be too hard as I only put 13 hours on her last year.

Personally I burn more fuel on a week long RV trip than I do all year in my boat. That make my boat look like a good deal.

But it was later in life when we learned the difference between a "Sexual Intellectual" and what normal was.

Yep, typical "liberal" family. Two kids, one happy wife and one tiny dog. My son went to college on a football scholarship and graduated with an engineering physics degree, my daughter went to college on a softball scholarship and graduated with a political science degree. Both are now married and I have a couple of grand kids. Thanks for asking

Dang it. . .I gotta agree with Gary on this one.
Readers on this board will know how RARE this occassion is.

I am very disturbed by how improperly the facts are used and how totally bogus the conclusions are. Professionals (by that I mean Responsible Humans that can read) should know better. I am also disturbed by how far this has gone around the web in "reputable" sources.

This goes well with what I heard from a Doctor once, regarding a procedure that was to be performed. Try to be "informed", I asked for some medical literature (with real statistics) to read -> not just the baby talk pamphlet. I was told he doesn't read the journals anymore, because there is too much (commercial) bias in the articles and research; the results seem to be bought and paid for in advance. Therefore, "the literature" would not present "facts" in a way that I was expecting or wanted. All he offered was anectodal evidence (with personal statistics) from his own personal experience. yikes.

No wonder this country is going to pot. "How much oil does America Import and Export" should not be difficult to determine.

Well I posted this in another thread, but here seems a bit more apropos;

...Here is something to ponder, it is just the start of 2012, so in around 18 years it will be 2030. It is being predicted that by then the world population will be anywhere from 7.5 to 10 billion. Currently we are at around 6.5 billion people, so just what does one believe is going to happen with prices for everything, especially oil and products made from oil, not to even mention other resources.

I really think the dude thinks the government should own this stuff... Sorta like Venezuela I guess...

Maybe then we can move to drugs. Those big evil drug companies are EXPORTING DRUGS to other countries when we have people here in the US that can't afford them!! HANG THEM!!! TAKE THEIR COMPANIES!!!! The government should own all "stuff" and distribute it to the people fairly.

We need a poll... where is Alex?

hi everyone , we love the states , we go down to st .petes every year . we are over in ontario canada . we just got back the other day . i looked at some boats down there , they are alot cheaper there then in canada , the hotels are alot cheaper in the states , your smokes are alot cheaper there , my canadian club whiskey is 55.00 for one bottle here , i buy it down there for 20.00 bucks a bottle , i brought home eight bottles . i got gas down there for 3.35 a gallon , here it is 1.25 a litre , it takes 4.5 litres to make a gallon , think about it . and i sure wish we had your gun laws .

The point being we have no government control...... so we the people lose in the name of profit. Its pretty damn obvious the government controls very little in this country and what little they do control is being sold to the highest bidder.
and I'm not a Marxist, I'm a democratic socialist.
