Silverton

If Luhrs was considered top notch, the wheel never would have been invented. I'm not a Sea Ray snob at all. The Sea Ray fit my needs, but it has many shortcomings. My Formula was of superior build quality, but it wasn't the kind of boat I needed anymore. My parents Carver is a fantastic boat, but it doesn't fit my needs either. If I could have anything it would be a Viking. I'm well aware of Sea Ray's place in the food chain. It's better than some, and not as good as others. I'm just saying what I know about Silvertons, ugliness aside (except for convertibles, they're good looking boats). My friend was not happy with the quality, and I've not seen great things either. The first thing I do with any boat is hang on the bow rail. If I did that on my friend's Silverton, I'd bend it.

. However, Not sure where you boat at. But where I boat at, I am in shallow water all the time. Not sure if Sea Ray planned it this way or not but when my boat is not on plane, the bottom middle of the hull is lower in the water lower than the props. So when I bump something, it isn't my props that hit first. Very, Very cool Feature...........

Ummm...maybe the props don't hit first is because they get there last....they are in the back of the boat you know?!

for the record...the props sit lower than the hull on the 48DA...unless of course, you ride around with a few elephants on the bow...

Now, now you had to go and get all technical on the guy, didn't you? He's gonna take his pot bellied stove and his recliner and go home.

Let's just say I've had several PM's, just today, of previous Silverton owners, a couple own SR's now, but not one had anything bad to say about the boats..........Just sayin what they said to me, that's all.
hmmm let's see... " previous Silverton owners".... that should have been your first clue.

MJ, You say you run aground while on plane in shallow water? Does this happen often?

All the time, I figure the shallower the water gets, the faster I need to run to keep the boat further out of the water. So I keep going faster and faster until I run out of water. Doesn't that make sense? Pretty soon I just end up on the beach and I get out the BBQ and have a party. Must be an East Coast thing.
