As a society I doubt we are any more violent, we just happen to have a lot of guns.Gees, it is illegal to have a hand gun in your possesion in Australia, they have to be kept in a gun safe at a licensed gun club and all rifles are registered.
Must be an awfully violent society where you guys boat to have to pack that sort of weapon on your boat.
My view is that if there are no guns in the house/boat there can be no accidents with them, too many times you here of kids finding and playing with their parents loaded guns no farms etc, the next thing they are fighting for their life in hospital from bullet wounds or just plain dead.

I think I have opened a can of worms unintentionally with my post above. I was not meaning the USA as a whole as every country has its violent places. I was meaning that where you go boating must have a higher incidence of trouble for you to want to take a hand gun or rifle along for self protection.
Okay the thread has gone way off track so let's just end the gun talk and get back to the essence of the thread.
Cheers
Paul
Yea ditto! I was so thrilled yesterday to read Vince’s posting on the generator water pick up. I was thinking thank god finally a posting where I learn some information about boats!

Other forums I participate in have a 'report' button along with the 'quote' and 'multi' buttons. A simple click reports the message to the administrator and captures pertinent info. I'm not sure how to report a post now (like the guy selling iphones or similar items). Anyway, something to think about.
Is there a way of actually deleting one of your own posts? I was looking for this function earlier but could not find a way to do it.
Preach it Brother:thumbsup::thumbsup:You have it all wrong! Our constitutional right to bear arms has nothing to do with violence. It has everything to do with our forefathers who fought and died at the hands of a tyrannical mother country that was trying to enslave us.
And no, we don't boat in pirate infested waters. There are probably very few people that actually carry a firearm on a boat. But, it sends a message to those that would wish to take our liberties away from us that they may encounter a problem.
Our right to bear arms sends a clear message to our government leaders that we will not have our liberties taken away from us. And, it sends a message to any foreign government that would try to enslave us that it is not going to happen.
IMHO, we as a society, are willing to accept a certain level of abuse of our right to bear arms by those of a criminal persuasion for the overall protection of our society as a whole.
If anyone tries to take our arms away from us and lock them up, they are in for one h3ll of a fight. Groups of so called do-gooders try and try again, but, they are not successful.
Don't try to tell us that we are violent society because we have guns. We have guns for the protection of our rights and freedoms as a people.
