I got a few more things checked off the "to-do" list this weekend. And we burned about 100 gallons of gas... ouch.
First, I was lucky to catch the best canvas guy in the area at our marina on Friday morning. I asked him if he could do a quick job for me, and lo and behold he fit me in right on the spot.
I've read some opinions against doing this, but I just really wanted the convenience of u-zips on my two front isenglass panels. Mark the expert did a fabulous job, and with his craftsmanship I really don't expect to suffer many leaks - he did a great job with the flap over the zippers, and the original glass basically meets up under the canvas.
I don't know why my Droid makes the photo look like it was taken in 1967.
He even put a pair of straps and snaps on the center panel so it can stay in place too.
Next, I got my cockpit TV mounted.
I didn't want to drill a large hole for the power and antenna connection until I decide what kind of fitting I will use to dress it up, so I ran the cables through the speaker hole for now. My mount was aluminum, so I sprayed it with white automotive paint and baked it in the oven for 10 minutes to help it harden.
Then, I used some sunbrella from a roll I bought on eBay and made a cover for it. I even embroidered a nice little logo to make it look more OEM.
Lastly, I made use of some empty floor space in the engine room, and screwed a tub down to store extra fluids, some emergency repair stuff, and some tools used often in the ER - like a 5/16 nut driver for the hose clamps.
All in all a nice little weekend. Us Canucks have to go back to work tomorrow... you Yanks enjoy the holiday!
