I got a few more things checked off the "to-do" list this weekend. And we burned about 100 gallons of gas... ouch.

First, I was lucky to catch the best canvas guy in the area at our marina on Friday morning. I asked him if he could do a quick job for me, and lo and behold he fit me in right on the spot.

I've read some opinions against doing this, but I just really wanted the convenience of u-zips on my two front isenglass panels. Mark the expert did a fabulous job, and with his craftsmanship I really don't expect to suffer many leaks - he did a great job with the flap over the zippers, and the original glass basically meets up under the canvas.

I don't know why my Droid makes the photo look like it was taken in 1967.

He even put a pair of straps and snaps on the center panel so it can stay in place too.

Next, I got my cockpit TV mounted.

I didn't want to drill a large hole for the power and antenna connection until I decide what kind of fitting I will use to dress it up, so I ran the cables through the speaker hole for now. My mount was aluminum, so I sprayed it with white automotive paint and baked it in the oven for 10 minutes to help it harden.

Then, I used some sunbrella from a roll I bought on eBay and made a cover for it. I even embroidered a nice little logo to make it look more OEM.

Lastly, I made use of some empty floor space in the engine room, and screwed a tub down to store extra fluids, some emergency repair stuff, and some tools used often in the ER - like a 5/16 nut driver for the hose clamps.

Nice mods.:thumbsup:Especially the cover for your cockpit TV. Great idea with the logo!

Boy. you made some nice improvements this weekend and still found time to burn some fossil fuel. Very nice and very clean.

The best thing that I saw in your ER box was that 28 oz. container of 'Stay Afloat'. IMHO, every type of water craft should have a tub of that product aboard.:thumbsup:

Great ideas and modifications!

Regarding the droid photo red tint, open the camera app and click on the menu then setting tab. Then click on Color Effect, uncheck red tint and make sure None is checked.

Jim

Thanks, Jim. I double checked my camera settings, and I don't have any Color Effects on ('None' is checked), and everything else is set to 'Auto". It seems to just have a mind of its own.

ElectricalDoctor, I agree - after seeing the video for StayAfloat, I thought it was worth keeping on board (and where it would be needed).

Mike and AtEase, thanks!

Nice upgrades -- looks great! Can you share the model of the TV and the mount you used?

The TV is a Samsung LN19A451C1D. It is a 19" HDTV. I bought it for the cockpit because it was white.

The mount is a Sanus VM1. I bought it at either Future Shop or Tiger Direct - I can't remember which one...

Two Peas,
Nice work!! Love the TV and cover! I also had my canvas guy add u zippers to my eisenglass last season when I got the glass, bimini and sunshades done. I love it as I never got enough air from my vent window on the hot summer days here. No leaks either! Todd

Thanks for the info!

Todd and Tonka, thanks.

We had a nasty storm pass through earlier and the u-zips didn't leak a drop.

Hi Two Peas

Nice jobs, love the SR logo on the TV cover, I have just made up a new cockpit table that lowers into a large sunpad, I put a Sea Ray logo on the padded cover I made for it....... makes it look like you care about it.

I have the same zips in my three front windows (slightly bigger boat) and have never had problems with them leaking, great for the breeze that comes through.

What is StayaFloat? Never seen it here in Europe.

Graham

Very nice job. The u-zippers are great addition. We have it actually on all the pannels, including the full camper, and use them all the time.

I like the TV cover. It's on my to-do list as well.

Enjoy the new mods.

Thanks Alex. After three weeks with the u-zips, I don't know how I lived without them. The TV cover was such an easy thing to do, too. In fact, the first one I made I gave to a dock mate because I had ordered the wrong Sunbrella (Toast) instead of Toast Tweed. Now the new one matches much better.
