It's 2009 and yes, there are those of us who have a problem with all that you mentioned. I don't care how people choose to live up to the moment they shove it in my face and belittle me for not accepting it.

Abortion is a whole other issue. It is a shitty method of birth control. I am really not interested in debating or really sharing my views on this in any detail. It is not my style to force my beliefs and morals on others, and I will not accept others forcing theirs on me.

What amazes me is how social liberals don't see the irony of their intolernance of those they accuse of being intolerent. I pisses me off when I see shit like what you wrote. I would have liked that he actually responded with something intelligent. That's the reason this was posted! Not as a polital rant, but to encourage thought and discussion, about really what is happening to our Constitution.

Maybe we need a "Whine and Cheese" forum for sdrevik?

Abortion is something best left not to discuss on a forum, perhaps, of this nature. I will leave that to discuss on the other boards I frequent. Perhaps too delicate for here.

However, seriously? Gay and lesbians getting married bothers you? Why? How is it shoving it into anyones face? Do not two people in love deserve to have the same benefits and recognition as others?

I really really want to know WHAT about it bothers anyone. Fear of themselves turning homosexual or something? Are they icky people? Is it religious in nature?

Seriously cant fathom in 2009 that anyone has a problem with homosexuals. I just cant get past it.

I have a lesbian aunt and a gay cousin. Both are as normal as anyone else, they just find love in the same sex. In fact, my aunt owns a successful clothing store on Long Island, and my cousin is one of the lead store designers for the Manhattan Pier One stores (see, I tied it into boating!!!) The only difference between them and us is genetic. You might as well not want blacks or blonde haired people to get married.

Oh and ps...not intolerant, though you may take my post to seem so. Intolerance would indicate that I wouldnt go have a beer with you. My best friends and I are all over the place with beliefs and point of views on almost every subject. We argue in a friendly way, disagree or agree, then have a beer and talk about boobs.

Just bothers me when people dump on threads in the holding tank that have nothing to do with boating. SO what. Dont read the threads that dont have the word "boat" in them. Not too hard.


I'll be careful not to post anything not having to do with boating in the other what, 20+ sections, I expect respect in return that when I (or anyone for that matter) posts something down here it wont be lambasted by some anal retentive jackalope.

Marriage is a sacred matrimony between a man and a woman. To imply that a man can marry a man or a woman to a woman goes against nature. (If it were not against nature, why were we built the way we are?) Personally, I view homosexuality as a mental and/or physiological disease, but that is just me.

I find nothing wrong with a union, allowing for benefits such as medical coverage, etc. But IMHO marriage is not something that should be devalued for the convenience of a vocal minority.

Most studies now point to, by the way, a genetic hardwiring of sexuality and the attraction toward someone of the same sex. Same as you may be attracted to a woman with a big arse or a certain look.

And we are evolved into what we are for procreation. This does not negate the fact we are sexual beings who have sex for pleasure as well. Bring this full circle...do you have sex only to create, or to have pleasure too?

We are the only species on the planet (supposedly anyway) that has sex for pleasure. And believe me, ain't no more chillins coming from my wife and I, and we still "mate" very often.

How do you know that? You ask a dog and they didn't answer? My dogs do it all the time... and they are both "fixed"... seem happy to me.

Thus why I added "supposedly", as this is what I have heard on Animal planet and sporadic other nature shows. They supposedly have sex out of pure instinct and physiological need rather than for sexual stimulation.

I dont know if that's true or not, but so the "experts" say.

In other words, they dont plan it. They dont look forward to going home and making love with their partner, it just hits them and bam!

I have managed some breeding stallions (horses) for several clients, I can assure you they always are planning on it and look forward to it every second of everyday. From personal experience I disagree with the animal planet experts

Pavlov's dog. In captivity, again supposedly, they are conditioned to expect it at certain times. They covered things like this.

Im trying to remember the show, it was the comparison between human and animal sexuality.

Yes, primates were some of the exceptions due to the fact we share so much genetic material with them and are our close cousins. The dolphin one was discounted for some reason, which I cant remember why.
 
Also, interestingly enough, most animals also have homosexual encounters and some even masturbate. So, who knows what is right or wrong? That seems to go against the grain of that only humans seek pleasure. Thinking about it, I wonder where the line actually is?
