The future of EVs? Maybe not so bad?

The average fuel use that I found is about 75 GPH or 900 Gallons for a 12 hour shift. Even at 1/2 of the meme... it's still a ridiculous amount of fuel if that's how much earth must be moved for one battery..
500,000lbs is about 6-7 buckets for that machine. In 12hrs it could move many millions of pounds of material.

So, pretty much every datapoint in that meme is shit. Thank you.

Please let’s do better than referencing a meme to make a point. Memes are for the simple minded and those that never question what they’re told.

Actually the meme doesn’t say anything about the time. That is inferred by the reader because of the 12 hour fuel burn.
So it takes 7 buckets to move 500,000 lbs.*** How long is the earth in the bucket? How many buckets per shift? None of that is explained. So how many Tesla batteries are supplied per shift? 2? 4?

You are correct is stating that we cannot trust a meme. I think the point of the meme is to point out that creating the batteries is not carbon free and EV owners think they are carbon free.

*** I have no clue if it takes 500,000 lbs to make a Tesla battery.

EVs have there place but I don’t think they are the end all be all at this point.

Questioning 'what we've been told' has become very hard to do. Many remain silent when they'd like to speak.;)

The one piece of data that is easily verified in that meme is incorrect. So why would the rest of it be anything more than made up garbage.

I haven’t met an EV owner that thinks their cars are “carbon free”. Most of them are aware it takes energy to produce them, it takes energy to drive them and it takes energy to dispose of them. This isn’t news to anyone with more than three brain cells. Granted there may be a few who spout off stupid shit but who cares? Or better yet, why care? Those people are just a blip on the radar.

You may want to run that by your faithful leaders. They’re pushing this fraud to get to “zero emissions.”

Aaaaand, I don’t give a shit what they do. I don’t follow any so called ‘leaders’. I buy what suits me and don’t let my life get dictated by memes or politicians.

actually, I take that back. I’m about to sell my golf cart because the local republicans are making me put tags on it, put dot tires, windshield, speedometer and seat belts on it, register it as a vehicle, insure it and get it inspected each year. So I guess I do sometimes let a politician make a decision for me. I’m so glad that they have time to write laws that include inspecting a golf cart.

Don’t forget some Republicrats are pushing the EV fraud too.

There’s no EV fraud. There is only political fraud. An EV is just a machine. EVs don’t have feelings or an agenda. Yet

Speaking of feelings, Did you guys see the idiot in NJ that keyed a Tesla while wearing a t-shirt with his company’s name on it?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a conversation about the merits of an EV, based on the owner’s experience, without it degrading into a “good for the environment” discussion? I get that many are brainwashed into rejecting EVs due to the agendas pushed by mainstream media. But that’s not the deciding factor for most people.
I think you miss the point. Nobody I know of objects to EVs. You want one and it fits your lifestyle go at it. Old people have been using EVs for years -- go check The Villages and all their golf carts. What we object to is the forcing of EVs down our throats, without any acknowledgement of the drastic shortcomings they currently have.

But that's the point. If you want an EV for the driving experience or whatever reason you choose, you should be free to do that. If I want an IC vehicle for the same or different reasons, that should be my choice. The reason this discussion exists is the eco nazis are taking the IC choice away from us and forcing us into EVs without any proof that they are "good for the environment". That is the point of this whole thread, I am surprised you haven't realized that.

Let’s look at reality for a moment.
Take a little road trip this weekend and drive through the local dealerships. Count the number of ICE vehicles. And keep track of the number of EVs. I can save you the effort and tell you that your numbers will be somewhere around 100:1, unless you’re one of the poor saps that live in California. This is reality.

Meanwhile anytime there is a discussion of EVs we get to hear a bunch of BS. Some true and some completely ridiculous. No one on this sight is buying an EV for environmental reasons. And we have all heard it a thousand times already

The reason for that is that EV's aren't where they need to be so many are staying away. Try taking a road trip across the country in an EV. It would be a logistical nightmare. 100 mile detours to find a charging station. I couldn't name a single charging station anywhere near my house (not that I actively look for them). I'm sure there are some in Pittsburgh but thats 50 miles from my house. If I was driving through the rural countryside I'd be screwed.
I would consider buying one for my wife to drive back and forth to work but would never consider a long trip in one so stop forcing them on us by raising fuel prices, creating supply shortages and creating new taxes on us.

Tell that to the 30% of dealers that won’t sell them.

I have taken multiple road trips with an EV. Granted not “across” the country. But the trips were 1200 mile trips. No problems on my end. Not a single detour.

If you don’t mind sharing, what’s the closer mapable town near you?

and here is this “forcing” concern yet again. Go to a dealership. Any dealership and tell me how “forced” you are to buy one. You simply aren’t.

Once again you're missing the point. You're focused on today -- sure they aren't "forcing" you. But tomorrow they will be. Biden's looking for 50% new cars to be EVs by 2030.

His post says Pittsburgh is 50 miles from his house. I believe that is "mapable".

As far as "reality", there are at least 13 states that have passed legislation banning the sale of ICE vehicles by 2035. And the EPA is issuing emissions standards that are forcing (see that word) automakers to move their fleet mix almost entirely to EVs. Which part of forced do you not understand? This isn't difficult. There is a reason this is a hot topic, Americans don't like having freedoms usurped. Simple.
