Years ago me and my brother-in-law were at the range. He has been a police officer since about 1981ish but he is big into hunting. He has a 300 Rem Mag and I have a 270. I was using my spotting scope to watch him shoot a lead ball that was about the size of a basketball and was hanging from a frame thing by a chain with a bolt going through the links to hols it together. I'm pretty sure it was 100 yards but he says it was 200. Anyway, I'm watching him then I grab my 270 and start watching through the scope. I have a Leopold 4x12. So I told him 'watch this'. I aimed at the chain and actually hit the bolt and it dropped to the ground. First shot. Now I'd like to say that I'm that good but I know if I tried that 100 x I'd be lucky to hit it maybe a handful of times. But the look on his face was priceless when that ball dropped and I called it...lol
very nice shot no matter the distance.
