460 DA Owners Thread

I don’t have a hydraulic platform on my 2001. I look at them all the time but 30k just seems stupid.

I agree. When we were boat shopping in 2007-2008 there were many nice lightly used 460s around so I was able to pick one that was fully loaded. The previous owner picked up the bill for the platform. Would I put a hydraulic platform on now on the next boat? No. I had a Seaweed Tend'r Rollers system on the previous boat and in many was easier to load the dinghy. I would go that route or something similar.

Hi Everyone. Upon close inspection, it looks like one of the clamps (see attached picture with circle on it) is close to breaking and I want to fix it before the season starts. Where can I buy one or two of these clamps?

Also, the pipe that connects up to my turbo is discolored. Can I buy a new one and if so, where?

Thanks everyone!
-Tim

The clamps are constant torque clamps. Amazon or any of the diesel shops where you are should have them. The turbo pipe is a Cummins part. I bought new ones and had them powedercoated.

I removed those pipes, prepped them and sprayed flat black header paint. That was 13 years ago. Still looks good.

Thanks for the tip! One of my pipes coming from the turbo looks like something that was plastic melted on it..... ugh.

I seem to remember that I sanded or used a wire wheel to prepare the surface for painting. The Header paint is the key. I chose flat black and it's held up perfectly all these years. Some day I may try painting my turbos the same way.

Perfect! Thank you!

Looks like my AC amp meter isn’t working. I can find the 12v but not the AC. Has Anyone ran into this before or have any ideas? Thanks

(no issues with power, just notice the gauge on amps not responding)
WOW. What do you have running to pull 30amps?

Mine is reversed. I have an 01 and the sync is mechanical so that may be the difference. Anyway. Both at neutral, turn on sync switch. Push stbd all the way forward. Use port to control both.
That is how my 01 works.

I haven’t posted anything fun in awhile so here goes.

We removed the 2 8D batteries with a total of 540AH capacity and replaced with 4 200AH Victron telecom batteries for a total of 800AH.

We removed the batteries and the original tray, cover, and hold downs. Then painted the wood base. Then we built a “tray” from 2x2 that I routed the top edges of and painted with interlux bilgekote with hardener.
After making new cables and getting it all lined up, I put neoprene on top of the batteries and then I routed the edges of a piece of starboard to make a work surface. To attach it and hold it all down tight I drilled 4 holes and used stainless allthread with silicone tubing over it to hold the starboard tight. Now I have new batteries with 50% more capacity and a work surface.

And I probably shouldn’t tell this part on the internet but we’re all friends right? I was drilling the last holefor the 3/8” all thread rod last night and well… I drilled a 3/8” hole in my finger trying to make sure I didn’t hit the freshwater line under the battery tray. I’ll save you from seeing the pictures of that but I’m down a digit for the time being and on some hefty antibiotics and some pain med.

I made myself come finish the project today so at least I have something to show ;)

What's your battery charger ?

A promariner for now but I’m ordering a Victron or newmar still deciding. There are always threads on here about promariner but I’m in the business now and these things are junk at best.I’m think a 60-80 amp charger would be best. Does anyone know off hand if our chargers are 120v or 240v?

My manual says 120V for both main and thruster converters.
