Ottawa state of emergency. Surprised?

No no…. They are trying hard here…. But right now you are winning :)
I don't know about that! The tolerated illegal alien problem alone is more socialist than anything going on in Canada.

Other than healthcare, which has a pretty big socialist component in the US as well, what is actually more socialist in Canada?

Per capita, Canada would give the US a pretty solid run in most right-wing categories. My home town would be hard to beat!

Blueone…yeah, don’t remind me... After 6 years of lies, scandals, division and financial ruin…some were stupid enough to vote him into power again.

An example of how 2 years of lockdowns and Covid mandates have driven people nuts in Canada, while the US has given people the freedom to choose how they deal with their life, this was a Jan 27/22 headline in Ontario:

Popcorn will once again be on the menu at movie theatres in Ontario when they are allowed to reopen next Monday.

Hey hey hey…. Bozo the clown has only been in office for 14 months….we will slow him down in November ….right after he gets all those votes in the country

Taxes, Policing (DUI stops), welfare, liquor beer sales, I wouldn’t throw out immigration….being white I am a Minority in Toronto, Covid lockdowns, Trudeau… damn running out :)

To be fair, it's more a deficiency with our political system than a problem with the intelligence of the average voter (although how anyone voted for this goof is beyond me).

The popular vote was very much conservative. It breaks down roughly as:
Conservative: 39%
Liberal: 33%
Socialist: 18%
French sovereigntist: 8%
Green: 2%

Too many people vote based on what they feel the party stands for instead of what government the candidates are indicating they will form.

Ha ha! You know we can buy beer in grocery stores in Ontario now, right (and you always could in Quebec...great deals at Costco!)? I buy pretty much all my beer at microbreweries. Need to work on the hard stuff still.

Taxes...I recruit from the US a lot. All-in, our taxes are not always higher, depending on the state.

Are there no DUI stops in the US? They are legal in most states...and I have seen them in multiple locations in Polk County in Florida.

Minority in a major city. I definitely have felt that way in Toronto (and more so in Vancouver). Even more so in Miami. Would you like to talk about Cupertino? :)

Welfare...yes, more documented welfare in Canada. It's not overly common though.

COVID: definitely different approaches. I tend to prefer the approach in the US, but which one is best will be very difficult to ever assess. US healthcare surge capacity is better (larger scale helps this), which allows a different approach.

So I'm not sure, mate. I don't think we're that different. Do some Googling on social program spending in the US and Canada. It looks like the US spends significantly more than Canada on social programs both on a per capita basis and as a percentage of GDP. You may actually be MORE socialist. Could that be???? The horror!! ;)

I've said before, I have seen more cultural and ideological differences between two areas of the US or two areas of Canada than between many areas [edit: of] Canada and the US.

Government grocery stores...good one! Real grocery stores. There's a whole isle at Loblaws...wine too! Go to Walmart, buy some bed sheets, bananas, engine oil, toilet paper, and a six pack.

Did I mention Costco?

Oh, how about this: Uber can deliver booze. Then there's cocktail take-out kits...I like those.

Have you even been to Canada? ;)

Yeah, but the Cons also effed up badly with that daft, flip-floppin' Toole as the "Leader".
Another Pierre now? Really ?

As far as being socialist, I’ll add my 2c’s to what is going on in Canada:

-Top income tax rate in Canada after Trudeau was elected …. 53% with
no mortgage interest deductions on primary or secondary residences
-Child tax credits eliminated….instead a cash/month payout averaging $600/month/child under 18
-National $10/day child care
-Proposed national pharmacare program
-government controlled news media- the Canadian Broadcasting Co. As well as federal subsidies to other new organizations to the tune of almost $700 mill/year
-scripted “news conferences” from our government to get the message out….controlled admittance to selected reporters with all questions screened….when was the last time Trudeau had a media scrum?
-Proposed bill to control the internet…with a government agency to decide what is hate speech.
-Proposed bill to control “hate” speech from racial and religious comments…this would also apply to flying certain flags
-Banning personal property with no input from parliament through an abuse of power while holding a minority position.

Just a few things the government is up to in the snowy north.

Hard to tell here whether you're talking about Canada or the USA :)

I am coming this summer by boat…. Grand bend…. And I am checking out this new freedom you claim
Fun town. Haven't been there since my university days. My only trips to the area now are in the winter to kids' tournaments!

Small place so I don't know if their one or two grocery stores are up to speed selling beer and wine yet. There are delivery options though!

Grand Bend Liquor Delivery - City Liquor Delivery (thebeerguy.ca)
Grand Bend, Ont (r-runners.com)
Grand Bend - CRAFT BEVERAGES - Shoreline ToGo

He might be the best chance of getting rid of the current Liberal idiot.

Born, raised, and educated in Calgary.
Fluent in French so can maybe win-over some Quebec votes.
Well-spoken, seems intelligent, quick on his feet, retains amazing amount of information and data.
Current critic role is a bulldog with a fair amount of theatrics...would need to tone that down.
May be too far right to amass the required support. It's a delicate balance.

So Canada and the US are more alike than different in many ways (we can debate beer preferences later). BUT, back to my original post. Blackface Trudeau supports BLM, but not truckers. AND now, taking a page from the US progressives and MSM, blackface Trudeau and the Canadian MSM are calling the Freedom Rally a "threat to democracy". Seriously? And news reports say the Ottawa police arrested a 78 year old great grandfather for giving a "thumbs up" to one of the trucker/protestors. Also I just saw the Ottawa mayor called the protest a "siege" and demanded more "boots on the ground", like they are at war. Next thing you know it will be an "insurrection". Do Biden's puppet masters have their hands up Trudeau's ass too? Or is it just a stick?

Now I have to find a flag to wrap myself in. ;)

There is a playbook out there somewhere that they share amongst themselves.
