The bow thruster batteries on my 420 were located just aft of the AC strainer and seacock location. They were forward of the base of the ladder.
Cant shed any light on your converter/charger idea. I had a dedicated 24 volt charger for the bow thruster batteries that ran off shore power or generator.

Same as what @brewster16 said. My boat came with it.Thanks, Jay. Did you run the cables up to thrusters or pay someone to do it? Seems like a tough run for two cables of that size…
Those images make sense of how the factory hardware gets utilized. It appears that the back rests are soft and flex when you lean against it and would like to know if that's an asset, or liability when considering comfort.
It appears that the few back rests I've seen on newer boats have solid back rests. What's the opinion on which would offer more comfort? Since I'm starting from scratch and could go either way, all feedback would be appreciated. Thnx

These are mine… and you shouldn’t be propped any different… 2” shafts
“Fly-Torque” Ni-bral four blade propellers that measure 22” dia. x 25” pitch with a “L” cup
Great, thanks! I’m new to diesels and just started researching this boat. I think it’s always been in freshwater but I’ll ask.1800 hours on a 2003 would not bother me one bit, assuming that there has been proof of seawater system cleaning, at least of the aftercoolers recently within the last couple of years, unless it's been freshwater it's entire life.
The 6CTA is a great engine, it's Achilles heel is the aftercoolers, like most Cummins 6 series engines.
Understood, good point. I had insurance lined up for the Formula 40PC that I just walked away from due to the issues discovered by the engine survey. But they were concerned, since I was coming from a 29’, so I’ll check again since this ones 42Forgot to add you should contact your insurance agency before you get to far into this, most insurance companies have issues when you move up over 8' unless you have other experience.
You are barely broken in....My biggest concerns are the 1800 hours
I'm on the Potomac and can recommend an excellent surveyor if you need one. Let me know.Upgrading from our 01 290 Sundancer, and considering an 03 420 Sundancer - per the broker it’s a freshwater boat, twin Cummins 6CTA diesels, current owner has his and previous owner’s service records, on a full maintenance schedule, including washes, waxing, bottom cleaning, and engine room maintenance. Other upgrades also.
My biggest concerns are the 1800 hours, and I’m on Long Island and would have to get it surveyed in VA (Potomac River) and brought back to Long Island.
Would appreciate any thoughts, opinions, etc.
