I am a Canadian and own a house in a gated community in Florida. The only thugs in Portland were, and still are, BLM and Antifa. I believe our current president holds the executive order record. Where do you Canadians get this bullsh!t? Don't bother answering, it was rhetorical.
My wife's cousin married a Canadian. I liked him when they lived in Toronto and we only saw them for Christmas. Then they moved here and we see him all the time. I don't like him at all now. He feels compelled to lecture me on politics and talk about how superior Canada is, all while vaping THC. When I get tired of his lecture, I just pull out my gun and check to make sure there is a round chambered.... Just kidding on the last part...after the THC.
I agree - no more laws. Keep your "rights". Keep buying guns and killing people. Don't get vaccinated either. It's helping solve the planet's #1 issue: not guns, not Covid, not global warming but overpopulation.
...
So by definition you just had a tyrannical government under Trump. Think about kids in cages ...
Well I knew my post would get things a little more lively in here. My reason to post is my close ties with the USA through family so I'm not completely an outsider. And I'm definitely not saying take your guns. I would say it would be nice to figure out a way to stop school shootings —that is heart breaking. As for commenting on your politics —they directly impact us up here and me personally from a business perspective. As well, I do like to pay attention to whats going on in the most influential country in the world. I was pretty sure the Michael Moore thing would get us talking. In fact he was completely wrong in what he said about Canada and guns - he is one to stir up shit for shit's sake. But he was right about the stuff in Flint. I spent time there back in the '80's —the place was F**ked.
The real question is who is dying and why. Can you fairly discuss the subject without knowing?I realize most people do not misuse their firearms but many do. I read 2020 was statistically one of the worst years in decades —43,536 gun related deaths.
Point taken if a bit spun.
You can’t deny that many “collectors” are a bit extreme in their “interests” though.
To your point, I’d love a full auto WWII era Thompson but I’m fine with the fact that it’s a no no.
Can’t lie about numbers Woody. The real question is who is dying and why. Can you fairly discuss the subject without knowing?
61% of this number is suicide. Where should emphasis be put...the method or mental health/help?
35% of this number are homicides(death at the hand of another), all homicides are not murder, self defense and accidental for example
52% of homicides are members of a race that only comprises 7% of the US population(black).
89% of blacks murdered are murdered by blacks, 15% of whites murdered are by blacks.
I'll be called a racist for posting a couple of these numbers I'm sure but consider these numbers and the discussions they should generate. Probably the least important is one on more gun control.

You just hope they'll come for you last.
From the Urban dictionary - Slang term for a "casual" gun owner; eg; a person who typically only owns guns for hunting or shotgun sports and does not truly believe in the true premise of the second amendment. These people also generally treat owners/users of so called "non sporting" firearms like handguns or semiautomatic rifles with unwarranted scorn or contempt.FUDD is an acronym that is unfamiliar to me but I’d guess it’s not a compliment by the “tone”.
If you’d like to explain or discuss I’m in. If you’re spoiling for a fight you’re out of luck as that’s not why I’m here.

The use of of the words "most" or "many" denotes a magnitude of exaggeration; it is a ploy of the media to institute a position where none exists.Thanks.
I hold no scorn or contempt, just a curiosity about the many collectors that I know. I’m in upstate NY where everyone has guns. Nobody’s house gets robbed here...it’s tantamount to suicide.
Many are just that...collectors and many are people who’s attitudes would cause concern in the face of their arsenal and ammo stockpiles. The “Pry it from my cold, dead hands” crowd if you will.
I hear them expound on the second amendment from a perspective that shows that they don’t understand it at all and sling it around as justification of their obsession.
Despite my FUDD status I have pointed a firearm at someone.
Anyone else here who’s not in law enforcement done that?

Well said. The use of of the words "most" or "many" denotes a magnitude of exaggeration; it is a ploy of the media to institute a position where none exists.
In the US an imperceptible fraction of firearm owners use them for illicit purposes.
Yet when these awful situations occur all of the vote trolling swamp creatures come out of their holes and denigrate the majority who abide by the law with the stupidity we should change something for everyone. Then when the media event is over they all go back into their holes to await another situation. It's embarrassing. The story line is if they did succeed to remove some class of firearm from public ownership that the criminal enterprises will cease.... Are we not smart enough to see through this?
[QUOTE="To quote Chris Rock 'You don’t need no gun control. You know what you need? We need some bullet control. We need to control the bullets. That’s right. I think all bullets should cost $5,000. $5,000 for a bullet. You know why? Because if a bullet cost $5,000, there’d be no more innocent bystanders. That’d be it. Every time somebody gets shot, you’d be like ‘Damn, he must have did something. Sh*t, they put $50,000 worth of bullets in his ass!’

There does seem to be a perfunctorily obtuse attitude in congress regarding gun laws. I realize most people do not misuse their firearms but many do. I read 2020 was statistically one of the worst years in decades —43, 536 gun related deaths. Is it in part due to the divisive politics witnessed over the last 4 years? or more recently this pandemic which has left so many people in a desperate state? Many factors I suspect. I will point out I'm a neighbour and not an American, although I travel to the USA often and have family and many close friends South of the Canadian border. We The North, do not have the same level of gun violence my cousins to the South have. We don't have a 2nd Amendment or the idea we should all have guns just in case. I think that is one of the more stark differences between our two peoples. I discuss this often with my cousins whom are all trauma doctors in Detroit —they deal with gunshot wounds daily —they have real American Horror Stories let me tell you. We are so similar in many other respects - language, music, movies, food, religion, ethnic diversity —we share similar values ... we like Sea Rays, Corvettes, Mustangs and John Wayne —but we don't have a gun or two per person here. I'm still trying to understand why that is. I shot plenty as a kid (young man) and I loved it. But I no longer have guns - I live in a big city where it is not exactly convenient to blast off rounds just for fun, so it's just out of sight; out of mind for me and I think that ethos is shared by many up here. As I tend to do, I shall quote another noted person, this time Michael Moore, 'If more guns make people safer, then America would be one of the safest countries in the world!' I'm curious what your perspective on all this is.
