Just buy a couple of these, attach some fishing line and a weight to them and leave them in your slip while you are gone. https://www.amazon.com/BigMouth-Inc-Floater-Floating-Hilarious/dp/B00GSVQDPG
Marina says - "we do this to keep monthly rates down"Personally I always felt is should be a partnership between the slip holder and the marina. If I rent for the entire year/season then they should give me the option to list and sublet my slip while I am away. The marina would then act as dockmaster and collect the fees, check insurance and apply a credit of a predetermined percentage to my account. This works for both parties involved.

Chesapeake - very common at Fairlee, Kent Narrows, Annapolis marinas. In the contract. I was a weekend transient at Great Oak Landing a while back, slip holder came back early on a Sunday but I had paid thru 6pm. Got ugly tween him and dockmaster. Long ago, but I think we worked it out so all were happy. But no, I wouldn’t stay at Marina with that policy. But then I don’t stay at fancy marina. It’s a boatyard with a lot of derelict wrecks on land, lots of old-salt grizzly captains, cheap rates, no amenities, and I love it! Side note - Great Oak Yacht Club at Fairlee creek. GYOC = Get Out Your Cash! Can I get a witness!

Yea..... right. The County would never pass the income on to the slip holder and electric? There’s a snowballs chance in Hell
Can you imagine stealing another boaters lines... unbelievable. The marina probably lost money on the transient fee replacing the linesIt's in my contract also. I leave a set of lines for my boat on the pilings and cleats. I came back from two weeks in the Abaco and my lines were replaced with some shoddy undersize and unacceptable lines. As it ends up they allowed someone to use my slip and my expensive lines were replaced..... Marina made good on it but that will be the last time I notify them even though a violation to the contract...
Yea, to the sum of about $360 to replace all six lines. The marina was good about it; they have had my back several times, no complaints. Can you imagine stealing another boaters lines... unbelievable. The marina probably lost money on the transient fee replacing the lines
Thanks for the replies and info, everyone.
rent a space for the six months of boating season, which in my case would be over $1,000 per month not including electric.
Holy OMG Batman! I pay $125 a month. Less all year than y’all 2 months. Wow. God bless ya, don’t quit your day job.

I am beginning to understand why we see so many people from PA,NJ, even NY at the marina. Met a couple this summer who drive 3 hours one way to their boat on my pier.Yes! As a fairly new boater, I'm no stranger to sticker shock.
