We have made a lot of different custom Trim Tabs for SeaRay and unfortunately the send us the drawings with a part number, not the model boat. So we don't know which Trim Tabs we made would be the one for your boat.

Can you measure the Trim Tab on the other side? Also a picture of the remaining Trim Tab would be very helpful. Note and fins that face up or down on it. Also some of the Trim Tabs we made for them are parallelograms and and are not square. This was done to accommodate angled transoms. If you can supply us with the measurements and a picture we can check our print files to see what the replacement is and the best way to get one.

The boat is put up so I am hoping another 260DA owner will pitch in here. I did measure the tab before and it is roughly 11.25x11 and I believe the fins face up. There didn't appear to be a lot of extra room to put a larger tab if I remember right.

 

My boat is in my driveway, Tom. If you need more dimensions, I can get them for you.

Length (fore/aft) = 11.75"
Distance to aft end of bracket = 8.75"

Width = 11"

 

Ok, Thanks, I am seeing if we can find the prints for it. Also that is not a standard actuator since there is no exposed piston shaft showing. I will get the info for the actuator as well,

Tom, can you expand on what you mean by "not a standard actuator"? Do you mean this is the wrong actuator? Or, do you mean that Sea Ray spec'd something "outside the norm" for this application.

Could the angle that I took the picture from be the problem?

Would another picture from another angle be more helpful for you to help the OP?

 

The picture was perfect! SeaRay uses some nonstandard actuators with their custom Trim Tabs. I should have mentioned that the Trim Tab in the picture is not a standard Bennett one, we made it according to a print and specifications that SeaRay provided our factory.

The actuator in the picture is also nonstandard. I can tell that because the standard actuator has about 1" of piston shaft still exposed when it is fully retracted.

I have asked the factory to see if they can identify the Trim Tab and actuator from the picture and dimensions you provided. I will post what they find as soon as they let me know.

Thanks for the clarification, Tom. If needed, I can get the extended/retracted dimension. If so, what points on the actuator would you want the measurement taken from? Top of the triangular transom mount to the back side of the tab mount, for example?

Oh, I was just curious about the "non-standard" comment. I thought you needed the stroke measurement for the OP. Thank you, Tom, but don't worry about spending any more time for me - I'm good just knowing it wasn't some weird thing that the previous owner (I'm the second) put on. Sorry for the confusion.

 

Thanks for everyone's help!! The pics look just like mine and the measurement I had written down is 11x11.25 so it is very close to the other measurement listed. The mounting and piston look like mine as well.

Here is what we found;

1. The Trim Tabs are parallelograms and are slightly angled to one side. There is a port and a starboard (they are not interchangeable).
2. Since the Trim Tab was ripped out of the mounting plates on the transom you will need to replace them as well. They will no longer longer be in tolerance and if you reuse them you could loose the replacement Trim Tab.
3. The actuator is non standard, part number SA2123A

To replace what you lost you will need:

1 each SA2123A actuator
1 each TPA for SeaRay kit 1292069 (very important to specify port or starboard).

The TPA will include the Trim Tab and new mounting plates for it.

If you forward these to Jim at BOE he can get them shipped to you from us.

 

If by actuator you mean the ram I should have that as the boat yard that broke it bought a replacement. I will check it to be sure they gave me the right one, they are a SeaRay dealer where I bought the boat originally so I am hopeful it is the right one.

I went to my boat today and took some pics as well as picked up the Bennett actuator. I think it is the wrong one for my boat as it has a couple inches of the ram exposed when it is completely closed and the one on the boat does not. Am I right to assume this is the wrong part and will not allow the tab to have its full range of motion?

 

If the remaining actuator on your boat is like the one in Dennis' picture and has almost no exposed piston shaft visible when retracted, that is what you need the new one to be like.

I suspect that they got a standard unit as a replacement, if you need to I could arrange to have it swapped out for the correct one if you send it to our factory.

Thanks Tom, I am going to see if the marina will exchange it although it took them several weeks to get me the first one and that was a standard unit. It is still in the box with their name on it so I am hopeful they will do the exchange - if not I will take you up on your offer.
