And did you see the feeble attempt they made to put it out? They didn't seem to have much of a fire suppression plan at this event... Which is odd since they seemed pretty good at setting those things on fire.

Also, they appear to be suffering a shortage of air filters and paddle tires.

 

Was curious about their choice of tires as well. Maybe a paddle type tire would just drop the axels into the sand?

 

That’s pretty cool. We’d love to get out on dunes but the closest from here are the silver lake dunes in Michigan, it’s a long ride. Maybe some day when my son is older and on a big bike

 

Those guys aren't so hot with their tune ups.... Looks like plenty of nitrous issues.

 

I suspect the engines are small displacement and they are pushing them. Some interesting looking builds for sure. I looked up that sand hill - 1000 feet at 50 degree slope, not insignificant. You couldn't walk up it. The rules may limit the tire but they are all, it seems, 4WD... Pretty cool to see what they are doing and having some fun.

 

Is sand good for turbos and cylinders?

 

Back in the day living in Calif we ran our toys at Pismo sand dunes and at Glamis sand dunes in SoCal. Some big stuff at Glamis but not like what is in this video. Also if you are in the midwest go see the Gravelrama at Lima Ohio - that's a big hill of pea gravel that they tear up the toys on.

 

Glamis looks like a wild place, lots of YouTube videos of people ripping it up there

 

St. Anthony Sand Dunes in eastern Idaho is over 10,000 acres of sand, with Choke Cherry being over 400 feet straight up off of the desert floor. KTM 620 with a paddle tire makes for some great fun! No, that's not me in the picture.

You get a glimpse of them in Napoleon Dynamite early in the movie when his grandmother is out on her four-wheeler.

 

Amazing. The drone shots of glamis at night make me think of mad max

 

Did Pismo with the family, dirt bikes, and a Can Am X3 last year for the first time. Had fun and met some very nice folks.

 

The closest thing we have are the Sleeping Bear Dunes.
