hi all. new searay owner and first time boat owner as well. just purchased a 2003 290 BR and i hate the separate throttle and shifter set up. i want to change it to a top mount dual control unit as that's what i'm comfortable with. has anyone replaced their own? does anyone have any pics they might want to share? average cost of the job and is this a DIY project? thanks in advance for your replies.

I priced Livorsi’s for the 280. At the time they did not make a single lever throttle/shift handle control. I don’t know if they have changed that position.

The other thing is unless you can find what you need at some place like Great Lakes Skipper, the retail is about $1500- $2000 plus per engine depending on the amount of options and bling. That was just for the handles, new cables and installation has to be figured in as well.

I can understand the desire to change. The new boat has single throttle/shift handles along with the joystick. So technically we have two sets of controls one for driving and the other for docking.

The smartcraft screen isn't working so I was thinking about replacing it with a Raymarine Axiom 9" touchscreen. Does anyone foresee any problems installing it here? I was reading Jeremy's post on his helm remodel and he used Merc's gateway adapter so I'm assuming it would work for me.
