I don't know about you guys - but I have almost reached the point of this being the only boating forum I participate in. Boatus has gotten out of hand.

A few "problem children" still ruining it for the majority over there, huh?

I pretty much gave up on that board about a month or two ago. I never posted there very frequently, but the tone of most of the responses and the rediculous in-fighting as of late has completely turned me off from doing so. It is amazing how the annonymity of the internet causes people to forget how to have a "civil" discussion.

Language got so bad a month or so back that they turned up the bad word filters so high that fiberglass came out as fibergl***. They locked some threads and some people are not allowed to post anymore.

So they punish the m***es for the l***es that are ***es. I say we put on our sungl***es outcl*** the m***es that are ***es. This will show we are not embarr***ed undercl***’s.

These must be the same people that wave when you see them out on the water, then finger you at the boat ramp! :smt017

I spend most of my forum time here. Once in a while I check in on Boating ABC and Go Boatings forums.

I learn the most here anyway...

I occasionally go to the other boards for the humor content. Its funny to see people getting all up tight over whose boat is best. Searay, Rinker. Bayliner, Carver.........who cares?

Were it not for the humor the other boards would be totally useless as their content is SPARCE and usually wrong! We really have something great here...thanks to the moderators..... :smt038

It is fun to see Froggy (remember him from SRO) get pedantic. I think he has been placed in BoatUS exile!! :smt101

Previously, on other forums, I’ve been more of a lurker than a contributor, due to the reasons already expressed in the above posts - but this is different. I think everyone here has no agenda other than trying to be helpful.

In the few months here, I feel like my boating knowledge has substantially increased and without CSR it is unlikely that I would have known about the Hurley Davits. BTW, I ordered a set and they look great – thanks Todd!

Hopefully, this summer the Chesapeake crew can hook up somewhere, swap stories, make a few toasts, tell bad jokes and enjoy a beautiful day on the water.

Guys, for Jim, Wesley and myself we all thank you for your own civility and courtesy on this board. Keep up the great work.
Aw come on can't we whine a little bit.
 :smt043

Just kidding. Keep up the great work Jim, Wesley and Richard.

Yup, Froggie got the boot on Boat US, if you thought he was bad on SRO. It is really great that we have the quality people here on this quality board, thanks to Jim, Richard, Wesley and all of the members for what we have here as it is far better than anything else that is out there. :smt038

I'll add my thanks to Jim and our moderators for providing this forum and helping keep it going, and to everyone else for making it a great place to come. I've dropped in to BoatUS on occassion and agree with others' assessments -- much nicer people here!

It's 36 in Maryland tonight, but the shrinkwrap comes off in 36 days! C'mon spring!

That's because only happy Sea Ray owners are allowed here. But I bet you already knew that.

I aslo wish to declare my appreciation for this site. All of you guys are friends in my book and I just wished we had a common WET place to tie alongside one another. That being said, CSR is a great outlet for the long dark winter, spring cleaning and sharing the summer's fun

Double  Skol!

This may not be exactly on the subject of this thread, but I have an opinion ( so what else is new...!).

I've been doing boating forums for a long time and have learned a lot about them and the folks who inhabit them. I've come to the realization that each is different and each has its own place and that place is defined by its members, the amount and quality of their participation, the moderators and how closely, or loosely they control the forum and its adherence to whatever rules they have. What Boat/US does or doesn't do, allows or does not permit is their business. The same is true with boatered.com, the hull truth, etc, etc. And, it is none our individual business unless we are a participant, and not the business of CSR at all.

For my part, I decided about the time SRO began that I was happier with and made a better contribution to a forum dedicated to one brand. There are a couple of reasons.....I've been around various makes all my life, but I know more about this brand than others and I grew tired of and frustrated with arguing with generalists who had no product knowledge other than what they read in last month's boating magazine. The members we had at SRO and that we have here at CSR are serious about their boats, they ask good questions and they appreciate it when you are able to help them. But beyond that, when some one wishes to debate a point or where there is a disagreement, it is discussed in a civil manner. None of us have to fear that some jackass is lying in wait for you to err so they can pile on pointing out some minor meaningless error.

What makes CSR so strong is the membership. It will stay this way and you will not see a degradation of forum quality as long as we continue to self-police the forum by not putting up with political rants, name calling, and "jackass-ery". It also helps to have a forum administrator and moderators without an "agenda" other than to keep things running according to the rules we all agreed to. Thanks Jim, Wesley and Richard......and thanks to the membership for being a professional and classy bunch of folks.

Ok.......I'll be putting my soap box away now...................

Well being a noobie, I think having dedicated forums to one brand is great. I moderate a couple of forums in my biz and the moderators here are first rate. everyone has been EXTREMELY helpful and the posts have been civil and i've learned much from them. I've made my choice and I own a Sea Ray (my only regret is that I didn't find this forum sooner). I look forward to actually getting on my boat and contributing more to the forum in the future. So in the meantime, If I post something stupid or naive, just point me in the right direction. :smt101

Like most here, when the SRO site closed shop, I was disappointed. And, like most, I went out on the net looking for place to hang my hat.

I have been a member on other sites for some time now. Heck, I started on "rec.boats" back in the mid 80's. I still enjoy visiting and participating on other sites, but THIS is home base.

I say thanks to Jim, Wesley and Richard for doing an Absolute, without a doubt, EXCELLENT job... :smt038 :smt038 ...(two hand clappers are for a Standing "O"... or, one for applause and one to turn the lights...which ever you prefer)....but I will second what most have already said....it is the great bunch of members, us, in conjunction with our host and moderators, that make this site so great.........and it is getting "greater" as more folks find and participate here.

I think it goes to show that, in general, people who choose to purchase Sea Ray boats are well educated, mature, civil, and have decided to contribute to society more than the average Joe.

That's become a defining characteristic in my mind lately - does a person contribute to our society, or do they suck the life out of it. It's always been a philosophy of mine to try and make the world a better place.

In San Antonio, we never left the river/lake without filling up a large trash bag with other people's garbage. When I go to the beach, I make it my job to pick up other's drink cans, water bottles (once they've been left behind, that is), and any washed-up stuff that I can reasonably manage. Other stuff seems to be easier to stomach if it's collected and left up close to the dunes for a heavy clean-up crew to handle.

Someone has taken it upon themselves to make a shrine on the Island in our area. They gather up waste and debris from the ocean, and arrange it at one particular location behind a dune. It's a form of art. Last week, there was a large, fresh coconut added - We don't have those trees anywhere near here - interesting. I like to go visit it to see what else has been added periodically.

Sea Ray owners, you should be proud - Other CSR members, you're included too.

As a novice and a female you all have been patient and very considerate - it is much appreciated.

Yep, even for a “foreigner†like me the CSR members are nice and friendly.
I know I make a lot of grammatical mistakes, but I never get a remark about this.
The problem for me is, that sometimes I know a answer, can help some one, have a question.. but sometimes I don’t know the right words or can’t explain myself on the correct way.

Also I want to give my thanks to Jim, Jeremy and Richard for the time they are willing to spend on this great forum.

Of course this forum would be nothing without the contribution from all the CSR members!!
