A 280 of the same vintage would be great also...By the way... if anyone has a good 290 ('99 - '01) for sale I am in the market!!!
Only way to know is for you to take it out for sea trial. Personally I'd only get the 5.0's.Hello NRA4ever,
New member here - first post! I am considering putting a deposit on a 2006 290 and was wondering what your experience has been? This one has the twin 4.3L's...hope that is enough? Will be buying it and keeping it on Lake George only!

Okay - I was going to take her on a sea-trail anyway...I guess I was thinking the sea-trail was the final "event" before moving forward with the purchase. I probably do not want one that is even slightly underpowered as I have a large family (five kids under the age of 7) and they are only going to get heavier as they get older!Only way to know is for you to take it out for sea trial. I agree with Bill. I sold my 290DA. It was very tight for my wife and two kids (12 & 18). 5 Kids??? Time for a house boat! :>)It was an option in 2006 and 2007 but I've only seen a couple with it. Not even sure it actually converted to sleeping area in those years. 2008 in pretty sure they made more common and it did convert to sleeping area but it's a short space. Not much more than an 8 year old will fit.
5 kids . . I think you need a 340!![]()
I have the 4.3's, and they work perfect on my 290 DA. They get the boat up on plane quick, and i run at 3100 RPM's while cruising.
Plenty of power and very economical on fuel.
