12 v outlet. --ok, i spent two hours looking for the 12 v outlet in the cabin/galley of my 2008 280. manual says there is one but I didnt see one on the drawings and couldnt find it. Am I really missing it? Why wouldn't they put a 12 v outlet inside? I wanted to use a small 12v/120v converter to run the tv when cruising so dont have to turn the generator on. Seems a waste to run the generator for 70w TV. Any solutions you guys have found. I could run a cord to the helm but seems like there would be a better way.
thanks

Its inside the tambour doored compartment on the stbd side on the wall that abuts the head.

They're not fun that's for sure. I first tried a 18" screw driver, laid over the engine and felt for the screw head. I found the screw head but couldn't get enough torque in it to break them loose so I ended up using a ratchet with extensions. Finding the screw heads by feel is not easy when laying over the motor but it can be done. I've heard some people just wrestle with the WH and yank them out. I didn't want to do this. WHen re-installing the new one I made two L-brackets and screwed them into the bottom side og the WH so I could secure it without having to deal with those back screws.
Thank you very much for the advice and great tip !!! I will be tackling this beast over the weekend ...

On my 280 their is a 12volt socket behind the TV next to the 120 volt recepticle .. I guess that would be too easy or you wouldn't have asked but if yours is not equipped that way maybe you can run one from behind the refrigerator because their is definitely 12 volts their ..

thanks. i must be blind. if im looking in the right place I have a 120 v outlet and the glomax switch.

I have one in the cabin on my 03. Its behind the old VCR/TV unit (you hopefully do not have) in a cabinet forward of the microwave. I've plugged my new LED 12v TV into it.

unfortunately its not in the TV cabinet, i was hoping there was one in there but just the 120v . i have the factory installed TV and DVD player --Lg TV. It also has the M1 Direct TV system. Its nice because the direct tv system is all direct wired 12v.
I guess Ill have to break down and get the Admiral to look. I have already accused her of hiding it.
i didnt look very hard below the sink, i can try that. In the narrow rolling door type compartment behind the counter area on the far right is where I have a 120 v outlet and above it is the glomax dial. they both extend the whole width and go to the top of the compartment .
i would expect it to be right around the sink/stove area.
I did find the 120 v outlet in the head--only by reading old threads on here!!
DC wiring diagram Fig 31.1 shows a 12 v TV receptacle and a 12 V Galley receptacle.

Both forward cabin speakers were working and confirmed that the two wires into the amplifier were secured. No change in the cockpit. I then reversed the two wires into the amplifier and the the port side started working and the starboard side shut-off. I am not sure what needs to be done but I imagine it will start with replacing the wire ends into the amplifier.
I had the same issue and it turned out to be a setting on the clarion head itself. you need to turn on the pre amp setting. I just googled the problem and it was an easy fix.

Just noticed yesterday my engine Temp Guage wasn't working. Tapped on it and it started to work. Also noticed the light wasn't working on it anymore either. Does this mean I need a new Temp Guage?

Great, thanks for the pics! And no, not all seats are like that, unfortunately. Mine is not. I only have a single aluminum post that the seat sits on top of.

But I will go and re-verify that...snap a couple of photos for comparison.

I double checked last weekend, and mine definitely does not have the spring loaded pin.

You're welcome. The switch is labeled "AC Circuit Breaker" and is just to the right of the Start/Stop rocker switch and hour meter mounted to the genny. ON is in the UP position, and it is real easy to bump it to the DOWN and OFF position while maneuvering around down in that oh-so-spacious engine bay. I've done it myself. This is almost certainly why you aren't getting power to the panel.

Fair Warning: The next 50 issues that come up for you and your new boat won't be near this easy to resolve.

That was the issue and gen was running great! Then I made a rookie mistake was running AC and then used the microwave. The gen shut down immediately and now I can't get it to restart. It is flashing a "UU" code. I checked the electrical switches where the keys go and there are none in the "off" position. I hope this resolution is just as easy as the last. Suggestions? Thanks for the help.

There should not have been a problem running the air conditioning and microwave at the same time with the genset. I do it all the time. The genset has enough power to run every AC system on the boat. Something clrealy went wrong with the genset when you applied what should have been an acceptible load. My genset doesn't have a display, so I'm not familiar with a "UU" code. Does you owner's manual reference the "UU" code?

Not a rookie mistake! I've run the AC and the Microwave without issues...

I'm still not sure why the generator shut down. I was able to find that the "UU" code meant undervoltage; yet still unclear because AC and microwave were running. I simply used the red "run/auto" switch on the front to off position to reset the generator. It will not start until it is reset and display panel cleared. Now it starts no problem but I still haven't run all systems on it yet. Thanks for the help.

Well....had a nice little streak going -I went 6 weekends in a row without anything breaking and everything working! That came to a screeching halt on Sunday. The windless will only work from the foot pedals now and also discovered some has borrowed my emergency handle (it used to be in the anchor locker). Also the search light bulb burned out -anyone know what the replacement is? any help on the windless would be great!

You can also switch the batteries to the "Off" position then back on to clear the generator display. This is easier than opening the engine hatch and switching the "run/auto" switch. I would occasionally get the LOC error for no reason and doing the battery switch would clear things.

Help!!!! I'm re-upholstering my cockpit and having a hard time getting to the nuts that hold the port lounge cushion on that is attached to the forward end (the seat back with the Sea Ray logo that faces rearward). Looks like you have to remove the wall in the cabin where the light master switch is mounted. I haven't quite figured out how to get that panel off. Any one else ever pull that panel? Thanks in advance.
