Guidance needed. I had some gypsie slippage on the windlass so I accidentally overtightened the star shaped clutch nut in the center. It snapped off. Any guidance or help in fixing this will be appreciated.

Yes, but the snapped off shaft is still down there tight. I think the answer is to drill a pilot hole through the shaft and use an extractor bit.....hope it works!

My plan is to drill a pilot hole (standard clockwise drill rotation) then use an extractor bit. My question is.... the bolt that is snapped off and wedged down there will come out with clockwise turns on the extractor bit?

I’m glad I’m not the only one that has done this. I felt so stupid and I immediately knew it was going to be hard and expensive to fix. I have the same project 1000 nut. So am I correct in saying “Righty loosely, lefty Tighty” so I can use a regular drill bit turning clockwise to remove the broken piece of the bolt that is sheared off?? Did you guys find a replacement part. I see one on some sites but it does not have the star pattern. Attached is pic of my nut. It should be part 1094
