So doing Abacos and Exumas next year. Decided the Jet Ski is not the right choice to take on this trip as it is not the “day trip” transportation system I need to move 4-5 people around. I checked all the lifts at the boat show and narrowed it down to the Sea Lift. But… $30k just does not make sense, never going to get that back. So started looking what will fit on my current Hurley H3O davit system. Davit will hold up to 725 lbs. I would prefer a little console dinghy over a tiller style but they are so heavy. Then I came across this Highfield brand with aluminum hulls. Much lighter and then the jockey steering gives me the set up I want under 600 lbs. I went and checked it out today and priced out the way I want it. Not bad at all, thinking to pull the trigger soon. Anyone here experience the Highfield dinghy?

Shocked in a good way or bad? The 40 in my Whaler uses 3.35 GPH at 5,500 rpm which is almost WOT. I'm usually cruising at 4,000 rpm though (20 mph) where it's down to 1.75 GPH.

FInally got around to launching the Newport inflatable. We took it to Mystic CT for the day. 80 miles drive each way on my Whaler trailer which already sits empty all season. The 9.9 wouldn't plane with 2 adults/cooler/gear/etc so I'm likely gonna have to get an EFI 15 hp OB. It never ends

Had my eye on a Yamaha 20hp. But their EFI model is the same core as the 25, and it’s HEAVY. Then I saw the Ageless Wanderer and his Tohatsu 60 scream around the Great Loop. Did a little more reading and realized the Tohatsu 20 is the LIGHTEST 20 on the market. And the lowest cost. So now I. Just debating if I want the adjustable tiller of the Mercury 20 (which is the Tohatsu engine) or not. Lowest weight, lowest price is thought to beat. And clearly, is a bulletproof engine! So I’ll be in the 20 club soon, too!

Good call guys -- a few extra bucks and the 20 hp Tohatsu looks like it's only 95 lbs? I could do without the adjustable tiller. And it has a regular garden hose fitting on the side for flushing.
