I replaced the lines to the pump and the 4 on the outfdrive. The fluid is milky. What's the best way to remove fluid and what should I use to fill it?

Looks like there are short radius and a larger radius version of the trim pump lines. Which did you use on your boat?

Take the rams off the TA and put them in a vertical position otherwise a bitch to bleed.

 

Good idea. I've never tried that. Is that noticeably better/quicker?

 

There is power tilt and trim fluid, but you can use ATF.

If your fluid is milky, you've got water in it,so you'll need to find where its coming from.

You might want to have a look at your trim actuators and possibly have them rebuilt while out doing this, they would be a prime suspect for where the water came from. Rebuild kits are available

Straight 30 or 10W30 is just fine for this system.

It's a bit of a pain to bleed it completely because of the rams. To be 100% sure... take them apart and clean. While the hoses are not connected, run the oil through the lines till it comes out clear.

 

Since the manifold block is right at the bottom of the drive it tends to collect water inside and get corroded.
When you get it apart dont be surprised if the aluminum is heavily corroded around the S/S fittings.
If in doubt replace the block too. It's only about $50.

 

Thanks everyone. I Purchased all new lines, the interior lines to the pump, the 4 braided on outdrive, and manifold. I will let you know how it goes

 

Replace the hose. With any kind of repair, the rest of the hose is now your weakest link. On second thought, replace them both. All of those electrical connections look severely corroded an should be addressed asap. They could not only cause a very unpleasant day, but if left to corroded enough they could ruin the associated/connected parts. Also the available stainless steel pump assembly bracket is an excellent update/upgrade.

Pretty sure Those terminate in the transom assembly into the manifold? Problem will be access, I think these thread in but getting a wrench in there will be tough.

Replacement is only fix for that hose. Do them both at the same time.

They actually connect to the block / manifold, on the bottom of the outdrive transom assy, where the ram hoses connect. Can't get at them from the inside.

Boat needs to be out of the water for this one because that manifold / plate is bolted on from the outside. and it can be a bear to do. Get the manual and it shows quite clearly what must be done.

The S/S bracket can be had on ebay for about $40

That’s going make a mess when the bubble burst’s
