I have a 185 sport with a 3.0 mercruiser tks Turned key and nothing. replaced 90 amp fuse on starter then 50 amp breaker now I have power through the alternator but still nothing at dash. 12.6 volts on battery, trim works and can cross the terminals on the starter to turn over. The manual describes a 20 amp fuse, I searched around, removed the instrument panel but I don't see anything. i found a 5 and 15 near the engine and both were good, all fuses in the dash were good. No power coming into the fuse block under dash. I've read other threads but it seems it's always the 90 amp fuse. I'm running out of ideas, anyone else go through this and can offer advice? Thanks in advance for any help

Look for a breaker or fuse near the battery.

Would that be before the 90 amp fuse? because I do have power through that, through the 50 amp breaker and out of the alternator

Did you remove the battery for the winter?

Look around and make sure that all of the grounds were reinstalled too.

Maybe you have power but no ground??

I have a separate circuit breaker between the battery and the fuse block. Look around the battery compartment and along the run from the battery to the fuse block.

when that breaker trips it cuts off the power to the dash but the trim works like you stated.

ok, they do show a 20 amp fuse in the line somewhere but I can’t find it. Is it just arbitrarily placed? Could it be taped up, or in the conduit? Doesn’t make sense, I went to a sea ray dealer they didn’t know. Thanks

I only removed the cables from the battery and the trim works so I believe I’m good there. Thanks

The fuse on my boat is a circuit breaker in plain sight mounted aft of the battery. I doubt that the fuse would be concealed or taped up on your 185 but who knows?

that would be great. Thanks for the info.

Thanks Blaster i got in there today and that's exactly what it was. I removed the battery and vent hose to be able to get to it. There is no mention of that 50 amp breaker in the owners manual. there are also additional fuses for the blower and bilge pump. It seems that should be highlighted in the manual, since it's a safety made to be reset
Thanks again, saved me a lot of time and headaches
