I have alpha 1 Gen II which should I use aluminum or zinc the boat is used in salt water thanks Dave

Depends on local conditions. Al is generally the better choice, but not always. Best way to figure it out... what do you currently use and how has it worked out? If you're happy, stick with it. Also, check with locals with similar setups to you.

Don't buy anodes based on price - get good quality ones. Performance Metals makes an Al setup that's even better than the Merc composition.

Edit: Don't forget about the search function - this topic has been talked about almost as much as the portable genny topic and the info (about anodes) has not changed... meaning there's lot's of reading and information out there for you to read about.
