zf transmission leak

just noticed some oil under my transmission and not sure how to proceed. Can t seem to find any obvious leaks.

Could just be overfilled, have you checked the level?

dont think it is overfilled but there a no obvious signed of it leaking. yet after a run there will be a couple teaspoons of oil under the tranny. I assume it is from the tranny at it is a very clean oil.. anything from the diesels engines would be black oil

I experienced a leak like you describe from an overfilled transmission. In any event the transmission seems to be under quite a bit of pressure when in operation. You might want to check the drain plug and the filter cover/fluid fill assuming you have both in addition to the dipstick and make sure all are secure. Do you know what model ZF transmission you have?

One other thing to check is the transmission case vent cap. It if gets clogged up, they will lose fluid where the case halves meet.
