ZF driveshaft turns slowly at idle, while in 'N'

My port driveshaft sometimes spins slowly, maybe 50rpm while in 'N' and with the engine idling. You can stop the spin by hand, but it returns when released.

There is no current through the marina under the boat to explain this. Also, it does not do this all the time.

Any reason for concern?

My port engine does the same thing, I found if I play with the gear shifter it sometimes stops. I have tried lubricating the gear shifter and play with adjustments, however, appears to be something that is not harming the engine or boat. My mechanic played with it as well, and just didn't see the need to dig any further.

It is my to do list.

The ZF transmissions rotate in opposite directions. That means one is in reverse, the other in forward. There are different clutches, bearings, etc in the 2 directions so it is normal for there to be some difference between sides. The cutlass bearing usually offers enough resistance to stop the rotation in neutral. If I were you, I would have the cutlass bearings checked the next time the boat is out of the water.
