Your first trip on the "new to you boat" was a big/long one

Do you think we could make Charlevoix in one day?

Will we have to be off plane any from the time we leave Erie until we get to Huron?
Or will we be able to let it rip 30 mph all the way?
There are numerous "no wake" areas along the Detroit and St Clair rivers, but if you stay at least ~600 ft off shore of the American side then you won't have any issues along the way. Going up, if you stay in the main shipping channel (stbd side of it) and you'll be AOK.

How are the Canadian authorities about watching the imaginary line out in the middle of the rivers?

They don't care much. If you wander way over the line (like heading towards their shoreline) or stop and dawdle that might attract unnecessary attention. There is a section of the main channel that's totally in Canadian waters, and that's at the very lower end of the St Clair River, where it dumps into Lake St Clair. No one cares that everyone is "cutting through Canada" on that stretch.

My maiden voyage in our 320 was Richmond, Va to Urbanna. Dealer went with me. Down the James, up the Bay, up the Rappahannock. The lower Bay gets pretty busy around the military bases.

Ha, I have done that trip before, don't recall you being a Richmond guy. I spent my early teens living in Urbanna/Deltaville.

My office used to be by Va. Center Commons. Grew up on the South Side (Clover Hill High School) and lived in Mechanicsville for 10 years before moving here.

Monacan and Meadowbrook here, class of 84. That area has changed a lot since you moved. I am not far from Va Center Commons where I live now.

Remember her? Are you kidding me, the things I did to that girl...

Haha, nope, I was there until 83, end of junior year, then off to Meadowbrook for my senior year because my folks built a house in that district.

She is my sister...And was in your class until you switched to Meadowbrook. Lol.
Ha, yeah moving to Richmond and going to Monacan was a bit of a shock for me. My class in Middlesex county was 40-50 I think: Monacan was 300-400 if I recall correctly.
