Do you remember your first real boat? The night before your first launch? For some I'm sure it was a long time, and several boats ago. For me however, that is where I am. The night before. After months and months of research, through delay after delay after delay, I expect to be on the water before lunchtime. The next 10 weeks or so will, hopefully set the tone for our new lifestyle.

All that being said, the purpose of this somewhat sentimental post is 2 fold.

1.)To thank all of you that have helped me learn, decide and understand what little I do know to this point. The time you take and your informative post are extremely valuable and greatly appreciated.

and

2.) To hopefully remind you of the pride, excitement and anticipation of "your first time".

Thanks again,
Michael

Welcome to the "bug" Michael, it seems you have caught it, this is where I am at as well. The last 8 months have been a blast, and now I find my plans for the future being centered around the "boating lifestyle" which I desire to enjoy in its entirety.

Enjoy your first weekend, Take lots of pics.

Our first new boat was a 1979 26' SR Express that was in the winter boat show. Bought it at the show and then had to wait until spring to bring it home, We broke a little skim ice on our lake getting it to our slip. I guess we were pretty anxious to get it home. Enjoy your new boat.

Michael, the feeling is priceless and I still remember how excided I was when we got our 240DA (I would call it a first real cruiser).

Enjoy the time and be safe.

Alex.

I infected my wife with 'the bug' by renting boats here there and yon for several years of family vacations ("Honey I know I was angry with you for not planning this vacation more... when can we do this again?"), and she finally agreed that we needed our own cruiser last year.

We follow different tracks to our destination, but we all enjoy it when we get there. Congratulations.

Is he talking about sex or a new boat?

Boat. Boating is better. Lasts longer and it's cheaper.

I remember my first boat delivery. Rained all day. Was still raining a little bit after I got off worked, picked up my girlfriend and headed to the dealer. Stopped raining but was not a nice afternoon when I took delivery. Still burned off a full tank of fuel that day with the new boat.

Have fun. Enjoy your new boat.

Best regards,
Frank

my first boat was a blow up boat.....I also had a blow up toy, but Gary won't give it back...anyway, I was about 12 at the time and we were staying at a family friends shore house in Seaside Park, NJ. We were on the boardwalk at night and my mother won the boat at one of the $0.25 stands. My younger cousin and I couldn't wait for the next day to go play....we blew it up and I actually slept in it....Hmmmm my first overnighter too! Early the next morning, me and my cousin dragged this thing to the bayside and dumped it in the Barnegat bay. We never told anybody we were going. The tide was moving strong to the south and luckily the winds kept us close to shore. I don't remember all the details, but about 3 or so hours later, my cousin and I found ourselves walking along the beach carrying this thing over our heads along the shore and we were 'greeted' by two local police and a few 'very' angry (but happy) mothers.......we still tell that story.

Yes, and I also remember the first time I got towed in.
I thought the 12 year old boat with 200 hours was a great deal. That was before I learned of surveys and such. Oh well, live and learn.

Ah yes. . . .the first "mechanical".

I remember a few mechanicals with my parents. Kinda exciting. .. not.

And the first weekend with my SeaRay (my first PowerBoat), the RawWater pump failed. (Yes the boat was surveyed). I have learned alot since then. . .

What happened?

And yes, I remember that day...it was yesterday! Nervous about launching/retrieving the boat, but excited for the chance at some good weather...

The thermostat stuck closed and overheated. The overheating ruined an "o" ring inside the motor near the fly wheel which allowed water where it didn't belong. That water dripped onto the starter which went up. Not knowing there was a drip the second starter went up. Quite a bit of initial repair costs.:smt089

I am probably 2 years ahead of you. Bought my 260 2 seasons ago, and loved it. Just sold it to upgrade to something a bit bigger and more comfortable (Great Lakes can get choppy). Enjoy your 250 until the "itis" bug bites. Some say the day you sell your boat is a happy day, but it was not for me. Your boat becomes like an old friend.

BTW: I could not agree more with your assessment of this board. I wonder if Sea Ray has any idea of the value of this site to continued interest in their boats. To me, having a resource like this makes owning a Sea Ray much more attractive than other makes.
