Last night in the Sacramento River Delta near Ski Beach a boat with six soles on board was hit killing a young woman and severely injuring the other five occupants. The pilot of the offending vessel split the scene prior to arrival of authorities. The search is on for the low life coward who was probably drunk and these days very possibly an 'undocumented guest' as they are known here in Californication. You won't find me out on the water at night these days unless I'm at a dock or in a well protected anchorage. There is a big push for Safe Boating Cards in Ca and I guess folks are getting their cards but it won't do a thing about those that will operate their boat after a day of drinking. I cant bring myself to believe that its an education problem. Its a failure to be responsible problem. Ill update if they announce an arrest.
Cheers

Dang. That's close to home. Please do keep us posted.

I Looked around a bit but did not find this story. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully its just folks having a bad day. No info on running lights. Probably in this 24 hour news cycle world we live in we will never find out the outcome of the investigation. If it was Alcohol perhaps there will be trial updates since there was a fatality involved.

Not a big fan of night boating. No matter how safe you make your vessel and operation, there is always the dude that is just out there simply not knowing or not caring how to conduct himself.

A little more info has come to light on the accident. It happened in an area where there is a waterway that has multiple islands of reeds and tall grass in the middle of the curvy slough. There are no directional markers but it is customary to travel in these areas by staying the right side which keeps boats separated. Apparently this was a head on collision due to the boats traveling in the same side of the slough going in opposite directions and at twilight. No mention of toxicology tests but this may just be a tragic case of speed and lack of visibility and possible unfamiliarity with the area. Either way it is just sad to see.
