Haven't posted in a while and looking for others who may have a solution for cleaning (repainting?) the round plastic coverplates for wiring access which yellow over time and are found on the inside of the arch of the 400 Sedan and inside cockpits and bridges of other models. I was thinking of preparing and spraying these off site. Any experience?

I sprayed my SR access panels with an exterrior white spray that was very close to Arctic White gel coat. It was an exterrior spray from Ace Hardware that did not "krinkle" the plastic. Test the inside of the panel. It held up well.

I got tired of this one too and bought 2 extras removed all of mine and primed and sprayed them with Imron colormatched to Arctic White while I was painting something else for the boat . That was about 7 years ago, and they look as good today as they did back them.

Spray paint works on those nasty yellow haler/fog horn combos too. I think it cost about $5 to make it look new again. Held up very well.

Thanks for the replies everyone, easy fix!

Two semi related issues:

1. White covers on foredeck windlass controls do stay white but they get grey and dirty and are hard to keep clean. Tried Magic Eraser as a last resort but even that was a lot of work. Wax after cleaning will keep them cleaner?

2. White paint chips on locker hinges - any know automotive paint colour match?

Thanks, John

I found that tilex worked pretty well on the windlass foot control covers. Spray on a cloth and wipe them down, let sit for a minute or two then wipe off with another damp cloth.
