    just throwing it out there...

since we received our new to us 260.. i been using a dehumidifier i had to keep it dry and smelling good in the cabin...

not sure if anyone uses these but i am amazed how much water it generates... went out this past weekend, we leave everyting open at night... so since sunday night the dehumidifier generated over a gallon of water by this morning! it will almost fill again by the weekend..

i recommend to those that have damp issues...

Yes, we run the dehumidifier in our boat 24/7 when we're not using the boat. That way we don't have to run the A/C at all, saving wear and tear on that crucial system. Dehumidifier = low cost to repair/replace. We have it set to drain into the shower sump.

Last spring when it rained so much and we were at a marina on the Gulf Coast for a month, we ran the A/C and the dehumidifier. Most everyone on the dock did the same.

Unless your boat is sealed up very well, you are pulling some moisture out of the outside air.

True, JimG, that moisture-laden outside air gets in the boat, and the dehumidifier takes it out. Most Sea Ray boats are not sealed up well at all. We've experienced a big spike in cabin humidity right when it starts to rain outside. No water getting in, just humid air.

I was curious about that. Does it put a lot of wear and tear on the A/C running in dehumidifier mode? Just got my boat and haven't even tried it yet.

Don't know about a lot of wear and tear, but it is some. Dehumidifier works for us.

i figured folks were using... down here in FL it is always humid... the 260 seems sealed well with everything closed... i know she absorbs a lot when we are out, we leave everything open.. soon as it gets hot plan on using the AC most of the time overnighting...

Might want to look into a smaller unit for your boat.

There are a few compressor-less models for small locations that can probably sit on the counter top and drain into the sink.
