I'm organizing an event to pay gratitude to the soldiers and vets this summer just as "a great way to say thank you" to them for their military service to our country. I do not charge any fees to sign up or participate in the event and it will only cost you your time and your boat for a day. It's really a great cause. If you want to do it on multiple occasions even better!

It doesn't matter how big or small your boat is or where you use it. I'm working on matching up boaters with active duty soldiers as well as veterans for a day of boating all over the country this summer. The plan is to start the event on Memorial Day and run every weekend till Labor Day so we can make the biggest impact.

You choose your own date, set your start/stop location, say where you'll go and what you'll do, how long you'll be out, what your guests are allowed to consume and things like that. You will also be able to approve who get's to go with you till your boat is full for that day/outing.

So, are there any good people in this forum that would like to show their gratitude for the troops this summer?

If you'd like to see the information site I have set up to explain the event in further detail, check out www. BOASTY.org or if you are certain already that you want to participate, just go to doit.boasty.org to just get yourself signed up and also to see the other boaters which have already signed up for the event.

So any takers here? :smt024

If so, repy with an I'm IN! Or something like that... Or if you have a story of your own we'd love to hear about it!

let me know...

P.S. If you'd like to talk with me, PM me and I'll give you my phone number.

. Just to let you guys know. I've been talking with Branden for about 2mos or so helping to get Boasty.org off the ground. Its a good way to give our Service Men & Women & Vets alittle R & R on our boats.... Wayne's World is on that list.

.Go take alittle peek on the site and think about....Wayne .

Man thats a great idea. I'll wait till I get Stugots finished before I commit, but its a great Idea.

You should try to get local media, papers to advertise that. Bet it would go down big.

I took several 82nd Fighter Group Veterans out for a day of fishing in the bay a few years ago. They were from WWII. That day, a skywriter wrote a marriage proposal in the sky for some couple. It took a long time, but it was really cool to watch.

I'm an ex-Army Ranger. Vietnam 67-69 Bring em on. Let me know how.

Sounds like a good idea, but what about liability indemnification? People who know nothing about boats can do some pretty dumb things, especially if they are trying to "help."

Best regards,
Frank

We have a legal agreement which all guests / soldiers / veterans need to sign and bring with them on your boat with you. If they don't have the document they can't "shouldn't" be allowed to come. It merely states that they will hold you harmless should anything "stupid" happen.

What do I need? I need people to help me get the word out. I also need anyone with fundraising and corporate sponsorship or grant writing experience to help get this thing on it's feet so we can function better. As of now 100% of all costs have come out of my own pocket.

So any help, any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your comments! I really appreciate them!

FC3 are you a lawyer? Or is anyone else here one? Would you like to review the document we have? Make changes? Make it stronger? I have no objection here. Just let me know if you'd like to see it.

That's the attitude I've been looking for! What the event needs most now is a show of support. Go in and sign up, pick a date, location, describe what you'll do for the day to take some vets out. The site needs as many boats/boaters in each location to get involved to let people know we mean business! So pick a date and sign up today!
