WOT vs speed Sea Ray 280 Sundancer Also fuel level quesrion

Did you put your trim tabs up after you were planed off? I mentioned this in an earlier post but it seemed to get lost as I never saw it mentioned in the following posts. This will make a difference.

Yes. For this experiment I did it with tabs up.

If you trim up too far the bow will start to "porpoise" or bounce up and down. That's a clear sign you have gone too far.

Y'all makin my head hurt.

I take my 240da to the Bahamas, it has 70 gallon fuel tank. Most times I burn about 40 gallons to get there. Sometimes when the weather is bad I have burned 68 gallons to get there. If I did all thoes calculations you guys are doing, I'd never be comfortable enough to go. But in 20 years of going, I've never run out of gas! Yet!!!! My cousin, well, he did......so we towed him the rest of the way. Haha

This is all good to know as we are planning on making this passage on our 240 next season. Thinking of putting a couple of 5 gallon gas jugs on the back swim platform just for a little insurance. I'm sure we can make it with just the 70 gallon. Not sure if our 5.7L will burn more gas or have to work less because of the extra .7L.

I have twin 4.3 with 1/4 tank not much gear with front Bimini and rear shade up I hit 41.2 on gps at 4800. I know my props have slime on them so I could prob get 43 ish with 4.3's.

The 280's require very little trim of the outdrives to make a difference. I have the smartcraft gauges and with the trim at 2 (which again is very little) my MPG goes from 1.4 to 1.6-1.7. The MPH increase as well as the rpms.

I have identical results.
