I’n another thread it seems like there are plenty of us around who fill the winter offseason with furniture and woodworking projects. Let’s share what you’re working on, I’m always looking for new ideas.

Here are a few recents in our house. The end table was inspired by a guy on YouTube called Blacktail Studio. Check him out, amazing stuff

That's some beautiful work Ryan!

beautiful! We don't see a lot of Cyprus available up here. Plenty of hickory, which I love, but my entire floor is hickory so I have to break it up as much as possible. Can't get enough Walnut though

Beautiful work,,, I gotta ask how do you get that factory Stain look... When ever I stain a piece of wood it never comes as good... I usually rub it on with a foam brush then wipe it down with a rag... Are you spraying it or something?

Thanks! No stain on any of those. Everything except the L table is walnut. I used Arm-R-Seal satin on the two console tables and Rubio Monocoat on the end table. They are wipe on products and leave a very even finish

Amazing work, you have a gift. I've been tinkering around with building a corner coffee bar, with floating shelves, very similar to your last photo. I've built it a couple times then taking it down cuz I didn't like it. I'll pay you to build one for me just like that last picture :)

Here’s another shot of that top, that one is hickory and finished in Rubio as well. It gives a very natural low luster finish. The bowtie inlays are walnut to stabilize the checking on the ends (and they look cool imo). The knots are filled with black tinted epoxy.

Honestly I’d love to build one for you because I’ve all but filled my house up at this point, but shipping would probably coat a fortune

Very nice. But for me, after 25 years as a furniture repair technician, I got tired of it. Not just the people with the bad attitudes but staring at grain all day every day. But before that I was a horse wrangler at dude ranches. And after driving a team of horses at a ski area for a few years, I'd just as soon knock myself over the head than listen to jingle bells. My kids have grown up knowing that if it plays in the house, I remove Christmas for ever.

Now I sell pole barns part time and stitch fancy designs on clothing part time. I have a couple other "part time" gigs as well.

A few of the things I have been doing for "winter projects"

A walnut table I designed and built over the summer. The top took two people to move. I did not use any stain. The color seems to become darker every day. This winter I am remolding my daughter’s bathroom. Staying busy until the new boat arrives.

beautiful! I have almost the exact project on my list. I plan to cut and plane four 8/4 slabs of walnut into four 13” x 8’ boards to edge join for the top.

What finish is on the top?

Strecker25, I used a General Finishes satin in a green can which is available from Woodcraft and other places. https://www.woodcraft.com/products/arm-r-seal-top-coat-satin-pint I then used a synthetic pad and rubbed out the finish to an even sheen. The arm strong method was a lot of work. Mounting the pad on a Dewalt rotary buffer would have been a lot less effort.

same finish I use almost all the time, especially on walnut. It’s beautiful and very durable

That is amazing work you are doing. Wow. Once you run out of places at home for your masterpieces, do you sell them off to make space for new ones?
