On my 2011 300 SLX with SmartCrap, once the fuel tank is less than 1/2 full, the dash gauge (and VesselView - but the same data feeds both readouts) will drop sharply to 1/4, and then show 0 gallons when there is still about 1/3 of a tank.

Those who have VV can relate: low and critically low fuel make the alarms go crazy.

When the tank is full, the gauges display accurately...as well as through about 1/2 a tank.

So while the sending unit isn't broken (because it's still sending data), it's inaccurate under 1/2 a tank.

I see two options here - remove the current sending until and see why it could be dropping to E so easily, or replace the unit entirely.

Curious, though, if anybody has experienced anything similar or has sage advice before I go paying with potential fire.

On my Smart crap the fuel tank can be programed at empty, full, and 3 other points in between.

I've got the same setup, but I can't be certain that the sending unit is accurately incorrect. If I were, that'd be a great hack. :)

The last half is the half of most concern, maybe get your program working for that end, at least it may get rid of the annoying alarm
