My opinion, not being an ass this time, is (2) 4.3's. Better close quarters maneuvering.

I had a 1999 270da with 2 4.3L loved it PRO = 40 mph + , good handling , back up motor makes me feel better:grin: , alpha 1 drive a lot cheaper to replace !
Con= two motors and drives to maintain , less room to work in ER

IMO for handling do the twin 4.3s
a single outdrive can be a bear to back up in tight quarters

What year? My 1990 is a 9ft beam and I looked at one with 4.3L twins but I found a single 454 that was much nicer for less money. Twins are a tight fit with a smaller waste tank also but you gain 2mph with twins if they are healthy. If it's a 8'6" beam I would say no way. I do like Alpha1 outdrives but if I go twins....it would be a 280/300 with 5.7L/350 mags. I back into my slip against river current and have no problems with handling a single outdrive, Mike.
