We splash in the morning. It's not the boat that has me worried, it's the 40 mile tow to the lake on an unknown trailer.

But she stands here tonight washed and clean in working order on the muffs.

I shall put the seat, and all the other stuff in- in the morning.

I wont lie, I am very very nervous about pulling this thing 13000's 40 miles for the first time. Some of you give me some tips and tricks to calm me down... This will be the largest boat I have ever pulled................. Butterfly's heck I have Condors!

The best I can offer after pulling 14-16000 LBS through the mountains of NC, make sure your trailer brakes are working and take your time. Use the trailer brakes to bring your speed down. If they are electric then get on them first then bring in th truck. This will keep you braking straight. Next to a semi you will be the largest thing on the road. People will make way for you if you stay on task and keep your whits about you. The 450 with 7.3 will be more than enough to get you to speed. Remember you have the control because of your size. In this case size does matter. Good luck and hope the launch is a complete success. :smt038:smt038

no help for you on the trailering. farthest ive trailered mine is 3 miles.

Whats the beam on that 270? looks like it really extends out past the wheels quite a bit. Mine is 9'8" and i too would be very nervous trailering mine any long distances.

Heck, I was nervous just pulling my trailer home when i bought it ... lol
Its alot wider than any trailer or boat ive pulled in the past.

Gun powder.... We are going to leave the F450 at the house and make it a 2 team Amish boat ride!

It's probably already been said, but...even if you've repacked the trailer's wheel bearings, check the temps of the spindles after a few miles, then again after you're half way there. Another tip, if people are passing you with the fear of God in their eyes...something is wrong, and you should probably pull over. (jk) Take your time and don't hit any pot holes.

At the risk of breaking everybody out in uncontrolable fits of laughter - does Alabama require a permit for that beam? Even if it does, 40 miles probably won't matter?

I agree with Stray Cat, at a safe place a few miles down the road pull over and check wheel/tire temps (infra red gun good for this), check hitch, safety chains, retorque lugs and just do a general look over to make sure everything is sitting right still. Always feel better to have a spare tire, jack and tools in the truck bed. Most folks believe the weight of the boat will keep it on the trailer but being paranoid I use a bow chain and then add some tiedowns to the stern too. You have something to hold those outdrives up to keep pressure off the cylinders as she bounces down the road?

Like Old Skool said, trailer brakes are your friend. If you have to go through a populated area you have to anticipate dumb@$$ drivers that will merge and otherwise do stupid things assuming you can stop and swerve just like them. If you're just running through the country from your place to the lake then all the rurals are probablyused to tractors and farm equipment on the road and will give you the room and respect you deserve.

Good luck, hope she splashes well and to your liking!

You did put the transom drain plug back in right?...

Wide turns ,allow plenty of room to keep off the curbs,i use two lanes and the other drivers will get the message or blow thier horns a bit, which is a good method of therapy for them seeing they arent invited to go boating and need to release thier anxiety anyway.Have a wonderfull day on the water.

The sea trials of the Event HoriXon were a success

The sea trials of the Event HoriXon were a success. There are some issues but nothing major, She preformed very very well. I would say next weekend will be pleasure boating.

Great news, you deserve some pleasure time, after following your builds over the last 8 months some time in the sun is just what the doctor ordered.

I'm glad to see the boat in the water and not along the road!! Good job getting her in and out and back home again. :smt038:smt038 Looks like she's running great.

Thanks Guys. What a great ride. I was covered in sweat grease and silicone but it was ear to ear grins today

And you brought the camera boat too, great planning! Nice to see you finally enjoying her after all of the hard work.

Yep, Just wish the camera guy knew how better to use my camera.
But in his defense the water in Big Koliga gets very rough and it's hard to stake a steady zoom shot. You don't want to be to close to that boat during a high speed pass LOL.
Flip ya over.:smt021

Even if you're a decent photographer it can be a challenge. I got only a few good shots of a friend's boat when trying to get a one of Pandemonium at speed. Balancing a 70-200mm zoom lens on a rocking boat in an attempt to photograph a boat which has a slow cruise speed in excess of 40 mph and tops out around 90 is an non-trivial exercise.

Best regards,
Frank

Yes I know It's hard on the water. I do a lot of video work on our lake and use gyros and it's still hard to get good stetted shots.

Also a bit if a time line video.:smt038

Heather

Your hard work has finally paid off. :smt038

The boat looks great and I am glad it does not have any major issues. You are one talented lady, if I do say so. Having followed the project from the beginning I can truly appreciate the effort you put forth to restore a boat like this. Way to go Heather.:thumbsup:

Do you have a link to some of those interior pics in better quailty. That interior from what I could see was awsome, and much brighter.

Care to come to Baltimore and help me finish mine?

I pulled my engine yesterday and have a new 396 MAG ordered and have tons of cosmetic issues to take care of.
