The engine in my '87 Pachanga 19 was swapped out by a previous owner, and although the engine runs and what not, there are more than a few wiring issues that I would like to get cleared up if possible. I'm not a huge fan of randomly cut wires, wires of different colors jumpered together, wires with factory crimp fittings just dangling, that sort of thing.

I would think that Sea Ray used the same wiring colors in their boats of a similar era, so it may not have to be Pachanga specific, but all I have is the few wire colors from the owners manual which doesn't cover all that much. The engine loom is specifically what I am wondering about, but would appreciate any and all diagrams (or even color codes and descriptions), if they are separate. Thanks!

The previous owner was a marine mechanic at a boat shop, and got it on the cheap with no engine. Thus far, the wires that are hooked up all are correct (according to the owners manual), but the unhooked wires are a bit of an unknown to me.

It is unfortunate that it appears that many of the wires in the ABYC standard seem to share colors across a few different systems, but I'll see what I can find out. Thanks!

this is an intresting post a purchased a 86 22 foot pachanga last fall runs great but still havent figured all the systems out yet. have had to replace 2 toggle switches on the dash which are hard to find and costly. one would think there would be a pachanga forum some where they are quite a collectors boat and in places there are a lot of them around

There used to be a more Pachanga-only forum and website, but alas it was gone before I ever got my boat. I too need some new switches and circuit breakers, ended up going with the OE ETA breakers, but will have to go with aftermarket switches I'm afraid. Still pretty spendy at nearly $100 for the few that I need.

I checked on Fiberglassics http://www.fiberglassics.com/library/Sea_Ray and unfortunately their info on Sea Ray only goes up to 1969.

I also Had a difficult time finding OEM replacements for equipment on my 1972 Sea Ray, but oddly enough a lot of the switches sold today are identical. Check out West Marine. This Cole Hersee ignition switch is identical to the orginal http://www.westmarine.com/buy/cole-hersee--ignition-switches--P009_275_001_005 and this on/off switch is too. http://www.westmarine.com/buy/cole-hersee--m-628-off-on-push-pull-switch--109381 Which tells me some things just haven't changed (could be good or bad).

The USCG Electrical regulations went into effect in 1984 and it took a while for some builders to use up old inventory so they may have had a lot of wire that wasn't the right color, or some where along the line the previous owner swapped it out with whatever they had on hand.

The switches that I am going with are a Sierra Tip Lit Illuminated switch that is basically identical to the ones that I have. The only real difference is that when they are on the tip will glow red rather than the factory green. Didn't really think that was a huge issue for my needs. Originally the switches only had a black plastic screw on ring (which these replacement switches actually come with), but I think I will dress it up a bit and use the brushed SS ones instead. Currently I am missing two switches and only one of the remaining actually works, so figured it was time for a complete change. Ditto on the breakers, one is missing and I have no idea if the remaining work, so they will get all new breakers as well, along with a long list of other items as I work on it.

As a long shot, I think I'll email Sea Ray and see if they might have any additional info to give on the wiring diagram/coloring. I'm sure they did at some point, but its been awhile since, so who knows.

The wiring diagram for my stock '84 Sea Ray cuddy is about 25% fantasy. It really is pathetic.
