I bought a new rule bilge pump due to mine going bad. I have it installed and my question is what is the proper way to connect the wires in the engine bay? The new pump just has bare wire ends unlike the old one which had some factory sealed plug ends. Shrink wrap and heat ok? Kinds worried about a lighter near the fuel tank to melt the shrink wrap.

Thank you.

I use a heat gun in the bilge for shrink wrap not much safer than a flame easier to control the heat, make sure to air out the bilge before using it, make sure there's no fumes if there is you need to find out why. I just did the remote float in mine a few weeks ago no boom boom.

A electrician twist, liquid tape on the copper twist, heat shrink tubing, double wrap of tape and keep the wiring out of the water
You can also use a soldering iron for the heat to shrink it.
