I have a 1997 240 Sundancer I purchased a few weeks ago and am going through the issues. The windshield wiper did not work when I bought it and noticed the wiper fuse was blown. I replaced it and it immediately blew. When I removed the cover, there was water laying in the cover and the bottom of the motor was rusted so it looks like the motor is seized up due to rust.

The motor is a WWF12C1-220 and they're $159.00 online from most sources. Where is the best place to buy a replacement motor? Any brands to stay away from?

I am tempted to remove it and disassemble it to see if it can be cleaned up, lubed and see if it will operate again.

I MAY have one, but the shaft the blade arm mounts to is worn. The motor is fine and worked great.

When end I get home later today I will be sure then PM you.

Let me know what you find. It may be possible to make one good motor out of two bad ones with different failure modes.

Does anyone have a source for a new motor that's less expensive? $159.00 seems awfully steep...

I was able to clean and re-lube the motor and it worked for the remainder of last season. When I attempted to use the wiper this season, it would not work and the fuse was blown. I took it out expecting to find it corroded again but it was clean and operated when connected to a battery. I put it back in and turned it on to get it to the bottom of the windshield and it blew the fuse again. I think there must be a short in the motor windings causing it to draw more current (at least that's my theory).

I located a new motor but it says to fuse with a 10 A fuse but the panel specifies 5 amp fuse - I am concerned that the wiring may not be heavy enough.

I called the parts department at the local Sea Ray dealer and they were able to get the OE part from Sea Ray for $103.00 which was way cheaper than anything I found online.

The saga continues... After waiting for the wiper motor for two weeks, it came in but it is the wrong part. The OE part is 129684 per the online parts manual and when I had the dealer order the part, he said the 129684 part was still a good part no. 1997 240 Sundancer.

When the part came in, it was obviously the incorrect part - part no. 1748562. It was physically lager and had a harness with four wires and a plug where the original had a spade connection and used the case as a ground - it most likely had a park feature. When I called the dealer back, he then said the 1748562 superseded 129684 which doesn't sound right to me since the motor is too large to fit in the location, use the original trim cover and connect to the wiring on the boat. Researching the Sea Ray online parts manuals, the 129684 was used on the 240 DA through 2003 and possibly 2004. In 2005, they went to the 1748562.

If the 1748562 did supersede the 129684, wouldn't there be a note that the cover needs to be replaced and an adapter harness required?

I'm going to call another dealer and see what I can learn but if anyone has any information I'd appreciate it.

I spoke with a different dealer and they confirmed 1748562 superseded 129684. When I put the new motor up to the location in the head compartment for comparison, it does not appear the new motor would even fit - the mounting lugs are in a completely different location and it is much longer than the original. The original cover won't work with the new motor either. It is strange to me that Sea Ray would just supersede a part without verifying that it actually would fit in the correct location and is able to perform properly. When I asked the second dealer if there was a service bulletin or instructions on how to make the new part work, they said they didn't see anything in the system.

There should have been some bulletin stating that the cover needed to be replaced and a adapter harness was required in my opinion

I am looking for the wiper motor old part number 129684 and wiper blades. Any source that is not related to Jesse James? May need both motors and blades.

I have a 1997 45' Sundancer which needs both windshield wipers and blades. Anyone have a source who is not related to Jesse James? Ft. Lauderdale area.
