This one is driving me nuts. Last week the starboard wiper arm fell of the wiper motor. After much investigation on what should be a quick repair, I have determined that:
1, The OEM wiper motor is a United Technologies WWF unit
2. The wiper motor has 1/4" shaft with a press fit collar with a 9/16" (or so) OD onto which the parallagram wiper arm fits and is secured with two set screws. I think the wiper arm is from AFI.
4. My issue is that the collar has cracked so it no longer holds onto the shaft, plus it was seized into the wiper arm.
5. I cant find any info about the WWF motor or how to get a new collar to fit on it since the motor is working fine.
6. AFI makes replacement wipers and motors but they are using a 5/8" shaft so their replacement wiper will not fit on my motor.
7. I have done some searching for a generic shaft coller with a 1/4" bore and 9/16" ID with no luck
8. I cant accept that what I have to do to fix this is replace the motor and wiper which would run about $250.
Anyone been here and done this? Have any idea where I can get the original collar?
Thanks
Jon
