My starboard side wiper arm fell right off yesterday (caught it before it went in the water). Some how it seems to be stripped so I need a whole new arm I assume.

I know the blades were just replaced. Do I need to get the arm from Sea Ray?

Thanks to everyone for some help here.

New to this boating thing.

My boat will be toally different, but I just replaced mine and NAPA had them as well as West Marine. Napa was the same price for one as West was for both....on sale.

If you can, take the part off and go shopping, that way you will be sure to get he right one. It should come off your wiper motor with one bolt and a splined shaft.

Did you check to be sure the motor shaft splines aren't stripped out as well?
New arm won't help if the male shaft is damaged.

Got my '05 300DA last fall, same issue. Had to replace arms and blades. My mechanic told me that the teeth inside the arm is plastic and the teeth on the motor is metal. That is on purpose so that the arm will fail first and strip out. Much easier and inexpensive (about ($50.00) to replace the wipers and arms than the motors. He said a common cause is that someone will turn on the wipers while the cockpit cover is on. Wipers don't ride well on canvass. New ones work great.

Mine fell two years ago..... I had a small hole drilled thru the wiper motor stud and the wiper arm.... I inserted a matching size roll pin thru the hole and it has worked like a charm ever since.... and the part was under a buck !!!

I can't vouch for what your mechanic was seeing, but these: http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19669&highlight=wiper are metal inside, not plastic.

It only takes a short time to strip, though. As mentioned above, if the switch got bumped with the cover on, or someone was playing with the arm while it was moving?

Or, maybe the arm was never really fully seated all the way onto the post.
