I was out last night in light rain intermittently enabling the windshield wiper as needed when all of a sudden the darn thing popped off its post and into the bay it went!

Anybody know a make /model number for an assembly and whether I can obtain one from an automotive type store?

Thanks,

John

John, mine too just popped off in the rain last year and what I did was drill a small whole thru the wiper end cap and the post it goes over then inserted a split roll pin (sorry, I don't recall what the official name is) anyway it has worked like a champ ever since and the repair was under a buck......
Sorry, I reread yours and you are missing the part entirely now(my bad).

Thanks for the advice Mark as when I do locate and install a new one I will make sure to implement a "hold down" feature such as a roll pin you described.

Apparently I am not the first to have this occur.

I'm not having any luck here in Atlanta finding a "truck supply store" for Ford Type "L" wipers.

Does anyone have an online source?

This won't help you as you need the entire arm assembly, but someone on the above referenced thread suggested cutting auto "J" hook arms, drilling a hole and mounting them. That would solve the wiper part of the problem.

I've never tried an automobile arm. It might work, don't know. I'd say, stop by a junkyard and buy one for $10. All you need is a pliers to get it off. If it doesn't fit, you'll still have the J-hook part to transform a marine assembly arm into something that's easy to get replacement blades for.

You can buy new marine ones (complete arms) at any marine store. I just looked in my supplier catalog for a customer that came into our store last night. There's about two pages of wiper stuff - lots to pick from. I don't think you should have any problems finding these.

When you put the new one on, put it on "vertically" until you know where the it stops at. Unless your boat's wiper stops automatically (like a car) at the base of the windshield when you turn it off.
