Yes i know it seems a little early to be talking about winterizing but in the process of upsizing the boat I am trying to get a feel for what needs to be done.

I have 2 possible options. 1. Keep the boat in the water all year round and 2. "Dry" dock the boat at a local marina.

Option 1 offers the convenience of being in the water all the time and the possible benefit of being on the dock all the time. The downside is of course the added maintenance and the inability to easily handle maintenance tasks like zincs myself.

Option 2 offers the advantage of being able to do some maintenance myself while reducing the overall "bottom" maintenance and cleaning required while being in the water full time. The possible downside is winterization.

The boats I am looking at are all fresh water cooled. What things would I have to prepare for the cold winter weather? I presume things like the fresh water tank and holding tanks need to be flushed. I will have power available while in the dry stack so it's possible I would be able to run heaters or dehumidifiers through the winter. There is also the possibility that I will take the boat out on occasion during the winter as long as it is not stormy weather.

Thoughts?
