I've got a specific question about how to add antifreeze to the seawater section of my FWC engine. My configuration is a water pickup in the Bravo III outdrive and a throughhull with a seastrainer--In otherwords I suck cooling water from two places.

The boat is stored on a lift, I closed the seacock, lowered the boat in the water turned on the engine, and poured 2 gallons of non-toxic antifreeze down the seastrainer. I loosed the petcock on the lower port side and pink antifreeze came out. Am I good?

My question is this: After reading the mercuriser manual it says to drain the block using the air actuated system resdident on these horizon engines and then add antifreeze to the seawater section--the big problem is that is does not say how to actually add the antifreeze. I've scoured the internet, U-tube, googled ad nasuem and I can't find any solid guidance on how to get antifreeze into the block. I know that I was sucking saltwater through the outdrive along with the pink antifreeze. I saw a video where a guy disconnected the hoses from the T-stat in a raw water cooled engin and poured antifreeze in that way.

I've attached a picture of my engine, any help Id'ing which hoses I'm supposed to pull and fill with antifreeze would be greatly appreciated...I'm pulling my hair out here...

You already have antifreeze in your block, it's a closed system. It's the raw water side I believe your refering to. Your adding it correctly, but you not protected because it is also sucking through the drive. Block off the drive, empty your system with the air pump, then add AF through the strainer

Missed the part that you have a lift. Do it out of the water, and put duck tape over the pickup openings on the outdrive

Scoflaw, appreciate the response, but blocking the outdrive off is problematic and isn't there an impeller in there that I would fry if I did that?

I'd really like to just pour in antifreeze into the right hose, any idea which one is it?

thanks

Can you use the muffs and run the pink through the outdrive ?

There is no impeller on a B3. Let your engine mounted raw water pump do the circulating. If there is water in your system, pouring AF from the top is not going to get the job done. I have the same setup.
