Winterizing 480mY water system

I found a very easy way to do the system on my 340...I guess it should work on your MY. I drained my tank by opening all the faucets and let it run dry. I then drained the remaining water from the hot water heater and did a simple bypass on it.... I dont like to have AF in my tank or in my HW heater.

I bought this kit http://www.amazon.com/Camco-36543-Pump-Converter-Winterizing/dp/B0006JJ588 and installed it in about 5 minutes. This is a very easy instal. Place the T- fitting on your fresh water line somewhere between the tank and your pump. Then screw the additional fittting with the clear hose onto the top of the "T" and insert the other end of the hose into a bottle of pink just as in the picture on the link. Close off all your faucets and turn on your pump so it can pressurize the system with pink. Open each faucet, both hot and cold side, until you have pink coming out. Turn off your pump, close the valve on the "T", remove the hose fitting and put the included cap on the "T" and you are done.

In the spring reconnect your HW heater, pour a gallon (or two depending on the size of your tank) of cheap Vodka into your tank and fill it up with water. Open the valve on the "T" fitting, turn on your pump to pressurize the system, run a little water/vodka through each faucet (both hot and cold) and let the rest sit in the tank/lines for a couple of hours so the Vodka can sanitize everything. Then run the tank dry through all faucets (both hot and cold sides) and refill as many times as you like. You will have good clean water tank, lines and HW heater with no smells or oily residue from the AF.

BTW, I bought my kit from my local West Marine for $10.25. I found it on the internet for a much lower price than what they wanted and they price match everything they sell. I have an app on my phone where you simply take a picture of the bar code on any item and hit search. The app searches the web for the lowest price and returns a list of vendors and their price. I showed the WM clerk the lowest price and they sell it to me at that price.....saved hundreds over the last couple of years.

Good luck!
