Just got a 220 DA and need to winterize. I know the procedure for the engine, but am unsure of the fresh water system. Should I drain any water, and if so how, or just add antifreeze to the remaining water?

Thanks,
Danny

Welcome aboard, Danny.

Yes, drain it all out (run all taps until nothing comes out). I do not put antifreeze in the fresh tank, I just pump the pink stuff through the lines. That way I don't have to flush the tank in the Spring.

Take a look at some of the posts in this search: http://clubsearay.com/forum/search....hinfo=1&photoplog_searchquery=winterize+fresh

Try doing some other searches as well - there are a TON of threads already on this forum about this topic.

Yes. I just put the line that gets removed from the tank (actually the output line that goes to the pump) directly into a bottle of pink. That bottle is now the fresh water tank, so to speak.

I don't winterize, so sorry about the stupid question... but how do you winterize the hot water lines without needing to fill the hot water heater tank with antifreeze (or do you)?

I pull the cold water inlet line and the hot water outlet line off the heater. Then, I connect the two lines together with a short length of garden hose. Now I've bypassed the heater and can run pink through all the lines/faucets w/o putting any pink into the cold or hot tank.

Easier to just dump a few gallons of pink in the fresh water tank if you ask me.

Yeah, but it's the hour of filling, flushing, filling, flushing the tanks in the Spring that I don't like -- to make sure I'm not drinking any antifreeze. In real time, it probably takes me about 2 minutes to remove the cold water pick-up line and about 3 or 4 minutes to by-pass the heater.
